Spiderman 3.1 Final Swing Edition- Fan edit

I hope so. I'm one of those haters. I can't watch the theatrical film all the way through. Its what motivated me to do this. This film a long time ago morphed from something just for me to something for all the fans who were let down by SM3.

I guess I'm trying to make the film we all saw in the trailers, thus the tagline I'm using- The way it was meant to be.

I personally think there's too much hate for it. Yes, SM3 was the most dissapointing film in my life. But a piece of crap it's not. I belive in Raimi, the man who gave us SM1 and SM2 and who showed us traces of his skill in SM3 even though he was bogged down by Arad and the studio.

Like Birth of Sandman. Even though people may not like the film, that scene is beautiful.

But read my response to yours above. :yay:

I have a surprise for you my friend.

Audio is a little low, but you get the idea. It is in rough form, there are two transitions that will be fixed in the final film.

Wow, thank you so much Vash!

That was exactly what I was talking about. Thank you.

I don't know if you're doing this, but at the very end, I always never liked how rushed it seemed when it got to the story credits to the directing credit. Could you slow it down? Espcially, when it says, "Directed by Sam Raimi," that part always felt lifeless and rushed. It could really give you a chance to use more of Elfman's theme at the end of the credits like in the last films.

But other than that, thanks again! That really made my morning. :yay:

And another thing about the part where Peter is in the corner after the mirror scene. I always liked the impatient tapping that Peter did. I don't know if it fitted the context of what you were going for, but in either your cut or the theatrical cut, it really brings out more of the impatient and arrogent side of Peter. I just always liked that bit.

I liked it too, but the problem is it doesn't fit in the context of that scene. We see plenty of Peters arrogance in the talk with MJ, but (at least in my mind) he got the crap utterly scared out of him, and is almost hiding in the corner, trying to figure whatever it was out...... and then MJ shows up, and it aggrevates him further.

Yeah, good point. Now that you put it that way. As corny as it sounds, I believe that you will deliver a great film.

Another question, when you release it, how are you going to do that? Can we download it or is it on youtube? Because I'd like to somehow copy it onto a disc and watch it on DVD.

I have a question, do you intend to keep the scene before the final fight as Peter gets his old suit out?

In amongst all the dissapointment of SM3, that scene with the music is my favourite of all 3 movies so far.

The only thing I'm cautious about is the monster in the mirror scene. I get what you're trying to do, and it is scary, but looks more like a scary email you'd send your friend as a joke rather than a scene in a movie. I agree that the scene that you placed after that works really well there though.

Also if you need the soundtrack from SM3 there are a WHOLE bunch of downloadable mp3s people made in this thread:

http://forums.superherohype.com/showthread.php?t=274738

That could be of some service to you, especially if you want to edit SM2 and SM3 movie scores together or something to get the right cues in certain scenes.

Check the the last page. The scene is there.

Yeah, its there. Its the Return to Action clip, although its not quite finished yet. I changed the music to He's Back from SM2, which (IMO) is a much more powerful theme. Re-scoring the scene also allowed me to get rid of the over the top flag shot.

Thanks for the link to the tracks! That should help a few things out.

As far as the monster in the mirror, once you see that scene in the context of what happened before, and what happens after (Aunt May's speech about revenge turning you into something ugly really resonates, I have had some say 'Like you saw in the mirror' during test veiwings) it really works well. I think you will enjoy it once you can see it in full context.

The movie will be released via torrent, rapidshare, possibly on sometime of on-demand site, thats all thats planned right now. Yeah, it will be a fully loaded DVD (check the first page, it has the DVD cover I designed for the film) with commentary, deleted scenes, and Dolby 5.1.

Re-posted DVD Cover:

Ignore the other link, I don't know where that came from, or how to get it out.

Yeah not to undermine your photoshop skills but that dvd cover could be better I think. You should ask Barney to take a crack at it, that guy is incredible when it comes to these covers and I'm sure he'd love to take a stab at one for Spider-Man 3.1

Here's a sample of his work.

HEY NOW!!!!! :)

I never said I was good at photoshop. Wow, you made my cover look like crap. :woot: Ah well, I'm focusing more on the movie at this point than the extras.

Also I think I know what's bothering me about that monster in the mirror thing, if you look back at spider-man one, when norman has that one second flashback "Yesterday I was..." and then it cuts for like a second to his face convulsing. They had a big sound effect during that time to scare you, the symbiote yelling works...but the way that it cuts out is awkward. Maybe if you had a sound that began and ended when it was supposed to without cutting out then it wouldn't feel so awkward.

Haha, and about the cover thing, I'm telling you man talk to Barney! There's his thread link, his stuff is killer.

Problem is, there is no way to make the scene continue. Normans flashback occured in the narative structure of that scene. In the theatrical cut of SM3, what would have followed that is Peter taking the suit off, and storing it in the box. The box does not exist in this film, (think about it, why would the symbiont allow itself to be taken on and off? HORRIBLE writing by Rami, just to get a visual plot device) So there is no way to continue it.

Also, if you cut directly to the next scene, you lose all impact from what we just saw. I want that sequence to be a "WHAT THE CRAP!!!" moment, and the darkness gives people a moment to reflect on what they just saw, as well as hold the audience in suspense.

But I will look at doing something alternate. I just have no idea what.

Oh no, I mean for sure leave the scene. But, there are two sounds when that scene happens, first there's a whooshing sound and then the symbiote scream. Both of which are cut off way too early. And even though it cuts to black that doesn't mean that the sound should cut out. And I was just saying that maybe it would flow better if you had two sounds to replace the two from the trailer that could begin and end when it cut to black suddenly.

The only thing I was trying to convey with my SM1 analogy was that the loud scary sound didn't cut off, it finished.

I like that it cuts to black immediately like that, I think that works it's just that something about it feels off. But if you can't find an alternate that you feel happy with then just leave it in.

Nice updates dude. My full reply is over on FanEdit. ;)

I have a question, how are you handling the opening Mj's Broadway show scene? That whole scene just seemed off with me. Especially when That pan up of Peter in the front row to Harry in the balcony. The music seemed to shirpy and it transitioned in an odd way. I think the music should of been heavier, drowning out the singing from Mj and going to the Goblin theme or something heavier, some forshadowing to Harry before the camera goes on him. In the theatrical cut, the music didn't seem right. And after that, the scene with Peter and Harry outside the theater. I hope you did something with that too. At least changed the music. That scene just seemed awkward.

Hey Vash, this all looks amazing. I can't wait to see it.

But I was also wondering, how can I get a copy of Adigitalman's cut?

DAMN,
i wish you could make the suit black with the white spider!!!

how can i buy this?

Hey Vash, I checked out your previews on Youtube, and to be honest, I'd change the build-up to the climax back to the way it was. I can see what you're going for, but the pacing is awkward, having him in one shot holding the suit, and then the next swinging through the city. I don't know, it works better in the original form. Nice work on the Venom voice change, I really liked that. :)

I thought the pacing was great in Return to Action. Peter's looking at the suit, deciding, thinking back to what he did. We don't know whether or not he'll put it back on. Then it cuts to that little girl looking up and everybody else. That whole part really gave me an SM2 vibe. We don't need to know how he got there, this is a film. He swings to the site. That's all we need to know.

I agree completely

Thanks guys, I'm glad you like that scene. I like it so much better that way myself. The only concern I have right now is when Harry shows up at the construction site. Does it make that much sense for him to show up and save Peter, when the last time we saw him he got half his face blown off?

Remember, right now there is no asking Harry for help, nor the Butler scene. The way it plays, its neat because for a time, you don't know if Harry is there to help Peter or kill him himself. Still, not too sure about that scene.

Maybe you should put him asking Harry for help then...that actually is a pretty good scene. Or show his empty room after Harry leaves to help Spider-Man

EDIT: actually yeah why not just throw that scene in with Peter asking harry and then Peter leaving with Harry looking on, it may screw up your momentum though.
