Has anyone played it, if so what are you thoughts on the game?

How could it have been better

NOTE: I am thinking of getting this game :sym:

I played it on the 360 and enjoyed it. The story is fairly bland and it becomes a bit of a grind to get through the missions at points, but the boss battles are fun and the combat system is solid, so it's a decent action-adventure game.

Well, I finished it twice. Once all good, once all bad. That's the replay value it has.
Combat is good and, even though most have a problem with the story, I didn't mind it.
I don't recomend buying it, but renting it.
But...to each his own. You may love this game much more than any other around here.

i've just got it for ps3 and i'm enjoying it alot...i got that and spidey friend or foe which is simple but fun to play.
i'd recommend getting the game it only cost £8.99 from the shop so it wasnt expensive..just web slinging thru the city is fun and the fighting control is good..the only bad thing i can say about it is that the voice acting for parker/spidey is bloody awful - such a nasally whiny voice, but other than that so far so good!!

Hi, what's up everyone? Nice to be here with you
This thread was on page 2, that's why I brought it back

I played almost every Spider-Man game from every system, I enjoyed the vast majority of them. Spider-Man 3 is easily my favorite, takes me back to the age of the great PS1 games, with great addition of Sandbox and other great things, I love to interact with the environment the way that game allowed me, and to go from top to sub-bottom, go some places inside, photo missions are great because they are nothing like SM2 or the PS2 counterpart of this game, they show a score and type the type of view of the shot, at least if you take a photo from top. It has some glitches during free romaing, and not often to reoccur or happen, but they actually add to the game value, like cars in the subways. Spidey3 is pure Spidey goodness, poorly underrated, all the reviews I saw exaggerate too much in complaining, so I consider complaints on this game to be hardly of any value.

Why have I brought that game up in a thread about Web of Shadows? The answer is simple, with plenty of details. Spider-Man Web of Shadows is a terrible game, too terrible, and I speak as a Spidey-Holic, that game is a disaster, what makes thing worse is that most people commending that game offend the far superior previous games, especially Spider-Man 3, that is why I brought that one up.

Gameplay:
Nearly all you do is fight and break stuff, and that is very heroic? What aren't fight and destroy?
*Save some civilians? Hardly necessary
*Take bombs off of the courthouse? Only once, and during that mission you still have to fight the dozens of Kingpin minions
*Disable Kingpin sanctuary generators? Still breaking something, and it is a disgusting unnecessary mission, and you still need to fight dozens of Kingpin minions. You'll discover later that it was an unnecessary action cause you will have to repair what you broke and go there several times to receive orders from Kingpin, and no electricity will hit you
*Place bombs on S.H.I.E.L.D hellicarrier? You still have to fight and destroy

All enemies can toss you over 50 feet away with the slightest attack

Boss fights? All bosses have health bars longer than yours, they take a break and some of their health regenerates, some fights are unnecessary (Black Cat)

Symbiote power? Not there, only power is extra reach tentacles
Special moves? Series of attacks, nothing takes much. Only the specials with webbing button are specials

The good stuff:
*Spidey doesn't tire from wallsprint
*Swing kick
*Wall fights
*Choosing sides

So rating for this I say: 3/10

Story:

  • Luke cage teaches Spider-Man how to use his powers?
Spider-Man fights people and takes orders from them
Black Widow is nothing more than an annoying b***
A Bugle billboard in Times Square is about Civil War, and Wolverine asks about things that happened in comics, but the story detaches itself from the basics of the history? Symbiotes turning people to zombies?
Black Cat leaves Fisk Tower after stealing something from him, then I have to fight her without explanation, then Kingpin men aid her (Wait, what?), after she loses the fight she cries then seduces Spider-Man?????
    Moon Knight worships Konshu?
After arguing about why it's wrong to break the law, just as Spider-Man ask" I'm going to Rykers, volunteers?" MK raises his hand like that? After hard disagreement with Vulture agreement on the plan?
Rhino just agrees to aid Spider-Man? No idea what's going on?
This story just gives me a headache to think about it: 1.5/10

Graphics:
Best graphics for a sandbox Spider-Man game: 9/10

Music is just bad, I give it a 1.5/10

Overall: 4/10 (graphics helped a lot, it should be 2/10)

After almost enjoying nearly everything Spider-Man 3 I expected a wonderful game, not the worst most hollow full of flash garbage. The game is too terrible it made me enjoy the annoying Grand Finale in SM3

This game is too bad, too overrated, that loving it while offending the far superior game made me hate it way too bad and right everything bad about this game. After the artistic fighting in SM3, we go back to button mashing. You want symbiote power? Play Spider-Man 3, the symbiote has real powerful moves, and the rage mode quickens up the fight for the player sake 8 times

too bad you feel that way bc I thought WoS was most definetly better than SM3

Meh. Spider-Man 3 is a great service, easy to have more fun with because of the variety of things to do and places to go. Even Harry's fight is fun under the subway where you can let a train hit him. Can't see the hate it gets

WoS is fun in only minor stuff, can't see the love this one gets

The indoor stuff in Spiderman 3 was atrocious and there was way too much of that. I didnt hate SM3 like most did, but it wasnt a great game as it had some issues. I didnt think the fighting was nearly as fun and the targeting system was frustrating. The boss battles were also kinda lame

As far as WoS goes, IDA with your assessment of the gameplay. WoS had the best of any Spidey game when it came to the combat and leveling system. I thought they did a very good job with the transitioning between the symbiote suit and his normal one. They felt and looked differently. The animations were also top notch

The one thing I will agree with is the story. It was rather weak

I am not much of a player, but I can say that being a Spider-Man fan, I have tried almost every SM game on PC and this is my conclusion:

Spider-Man: OK...
Spider-Man: The Movie: pretty good, but nothing really captivating.
Spider-Man 2: sucked!
Spider-Man 3: Meh...
Spider-Man:WEB of Shadows: Really good! The best Spider-Man video game so far, I would give it an 8/10! It has it's ups & downs, but overall it worked out great for me. I was hoping they would do a sequel and use villains that weren't used in WoS, such as Doc Ock, Hobgoblin & Carnage!

As someone who finished the game 26 times so far it's easy for me to say: "WRONG"
and there was way too much of that.
There was sufficient enough amount
I didnt hate SM3 like most did, but it wasnt a great game as it had some issues.
It's great, despite its issues.
I didnt think the fighting was nearly as fun and the targeting system was frustrating. The boss battles were also kinda lame
Fighting is better in Spider-Man 3, better moves control
What targeting system? The spider-sense doesn't really target, it detects, which was done right in 3

As far as WoS goes, IDA with your assessment of the gameplay. WoS had the best of any Spidey game when it came to the combat and leveling system.
Levelling up is boring, and it was no way near the best in combat
I thought they did a very good job with the transitioning between the symbiote suit and his normal one. They felt and looked differently. The animations were also top notch
One of the rare things Web of Garbage did right

The one thing I will agree with is the story. It was rather weak
Rather weak? It's pathetic

I am not much of a player, but I can say that being a Spider-Man fan, I have tried almost every SM game on PC and this is my conclusion:

Spider-Man: OK...
No way, it needs more advanced combat, but to simply call it OK is an understatement, it's awesome
Spider-Man: The Movie
: pretty good, but nothing really captivating.
Spider-Man 2: sucked!
In those I kind of agree. Spider-Man 2 could've been better
Spider-Man 3
Heck no, it's a gift to most Spidey fans & gamers, has some issues, but it did many things best
Spider-Man:WEB of Shadows
: Really good! The best Spider-Man video game so far, I would give it an 8/10!
You got too captivated by all the flash in it, that game is all flash, nothing really good
It has it's ups & downs
More downs than ups I say, highly
but overall it worked out great for me.
How can people form this opinion on the worst crap?
I was hoping they would do a sequel and use villains that weren't used in WoS, such as Doc Ock, Hobgoblin & Carnage!
I don't get why people want sequels for games with stories that were meant to be wrapped up in one game only, all the symbiotes are meant to be dead by the original suit endings
