Spidey 3 to make history?

Well its official...Spidey 3 awareness is through the roof...its obvious its going to be huge, but how huge do you think its going to be? It has the potential to be one of the biggest movies in history...based on the first 2 films successes and on how EPIC this movie looks, what place do you think this movie will have in cinematic history? Will it make Titanic like money and be a special effects benchmark a la Jurrassic Park and Terminator 2? Here's hoping

I think it will beat Pirates' opening weekend. If not, it'll gross at least $115 million opening weekend. But then again, the pirates are coming back three weeks after Spidey, plus there's also Shrek to worry about.

As for it beating Titanic, one can only hope. I can't wait until that overrated juggernaut is knocked off its perch.

You know I've been saying this for some months now. Spidey 3 will break all previous Spidey movie records. I know we can sink the Pirates and with some people planning to see the movie more than 3 times, I think we have a great chance on making Spidey- King of the Movie World.

If the story holds the high standard from S-M2, hell yeah, it's possible do do at least $900 mill worldwide, maybe even LotR3 numbers ($1+ billion).

PotC will be the big loser. After the terrible crapfest last year I wouldn't even consider watching that one.
Shrek3 has the most potential to also make big money but nowhere near as much as Spidey can do.

^Didn't Shrek 2 beat out Spidey 2 in the box office? I thought it did. There was a thread on here a few years back bashing Shrek 2 and i could swear it was for making more money. Could be wrong though.

SM3 should break a ton of records, but it will only be outdone by PotC3. I can understand Shrek movies making more that SM movies, due to adults finding it very charming and all kids loving it, by why are PotC movies so damn popular? Yeah Depp's metrosexual pirate character is entertaining, but it didn't deserve an oscar nom. The first Pirates was a little annoying to me and the second was over-long and over-the-top phony in action sequences, and that cliffhanger ending wasn't pleasant either.
