^ Don't. There are, like, 10 billion easier ways to make money, and you are constantly dependent on grant money.

That said, use the GI Bill and get yourself good and edumacated.

Being a medic isn't a bad job either. :cwink:
Even though it's kinda sad things didn't work out like I feel they should.

I'm still proud of what I do now. :woot:
Thanks for the advice though. Alot of the recruiters try to get over people.
They kind of took care of me since I scored really high on my ASVAB test.

But alot of my friends got grunt work or shoved in another military service they didn't want because they scored average. :csad:

I haven't seen the numbers posted here for June, so here you go....

So, we've got the top comics for July. ASM 600 did not perform quite as well as I expected, but it beat the other "600" issues and slotted in at #4--even with a higher price. Blackest Night is turning out to be a high impact event. Cap is doing surprisingly well, but I suspect it will slide. Bats still owns the charts, though.

I should also note that with newsstand sales and subscriptions, ASM probably moved more issues than any other title, but only just barely. Batman & Robin only just became subscribable, and is not as widely available on news stands, so it likely could have won with greater availablity.

Glad to see a DC character BESIDES Batman doing well.

With a great animated movie, a live-action movie on the way, and now a popular "Event" comic under his belt, GL is quickly becoming a more bankable character! :gl:

He really is, GL's makin as comeback, although i fear for the live-action version of GL, not quite sure how they're goin to pull that off without it looking silly.

And the fact that Green Lantern has a really great writer writing him now. Geoff Johns turned a lot of people onto that character.

Glad to see Amazing Spider-Man # 600 doing so well through all those big competitors it had to go up against. Blackest Night is a REALLY good event so far and beating it will be a very tough thing to do, as well as the Batman stuff.

Marvel better start picking it up or it's gonna start seeing itself on the other side of the line. :o

Well if DC wants to get ahead of Marvel they're gonna need more than Batman ,Superman and GL. They're gonna need to re-energize alot their characters. They can definitely do it too, but i doubt it'll happen under Dan Didio's watch.

I think it will happen in the next few years, in my opinion. Last year I never read a Green Lantern book in my life. My friend gives me Rebirth and I'm hooked. After reading Blackest Night # 2, I ACTUALLY WANT TO READ AN AQUAMAN COMIC!

Trust me...Dan DiDio keeps letting Johns write these big events it will only take a couple years. Johns got me very into the Wally West Flash and now Green Lantern. Those are two characters that years ago I would have laughed and said, "They suck". So, we'll see.

Not trying to knock Marvel but they aren't really winning me over with the whole "Let's put out tons of useless miniseries and one-shots".

I do agree that Marvel is starting to lose a bit of steam. They were on fire for the last 5-6 years, so now would be a great time for DC to strike, but let's face it Geoff Johns cant do it all by himself. DC's gonna need other talented writers and artists to help revitalize their characters. I personally would love to see what someone like JMS could do with Wonder Woman or Superman. But I think DC's relying too much on Johns and there's only so much the guy could do on his own. Plus they need to start hiring better artists too. This is one area Marvel excels in, the artists they got at Marvel are incredible and all have their own unique qualities. Whenever i read DC's books, i feel like i'm looking at the same artwork over and over again. Im not knocking DC, cause i LOVE some of their characters but they could be doing so much better.

Well, DC did just pick up JMS exclusively and he did a lot of high profile stuff at Marvel. DC also has Peter Tomasi, who has been awesome on Green Lantern Corps and he did Blackest Night: Batman too. Great writer.

They have Grant Morrison too, though he's been hit and miss a lot lately, but his Batman and Robin book is great stuff. DC has the tools to get it done. It's just great all around for fans, in my opinion, because Marvel is gonna have to step up their game and the only people who win in the end are the fans.

Agreed...although my bank account kind of loses. lol

EXACTLY! Haha! :woot: Especially if they make all the books 3.99...forget about it! :wow:

Seriously dude 3.99?! I remember the days when i was a kid and books were $1.25! At this rate we'll be paying 7 bucks an issue by the year 2020.

You're telling me! I started reading comics regularly in 1991. I remember going to the comic shop and I could get like four of five brand new comics for five bucks! I think they were still a dollar then.

I guess one could argue that the quality of comicbooks are alot better than they were in the 90's hence the price increase but....come on 4 bucks an issue? Quesada blames the recession and says they have no choice but i dont buy that bs. Marvel's been doing extremely well for itself lately if anything there should be a price drop.

I think DC has been doing better than Marvel for a few years now. Identity Crisis, Infinite Crisis and 52 got me back into the DCU. Plus all the DTVs have been great. Marvel is slacking.

I am still surprised by the sales of Batman & Robin. Grant Morrison is proving to be the Bendis of DC, but he actually moves books. Blackest Night is a cool concept, but thus far, has made little sense-sort of like Final Crisis. Still, I would really like to have seen ASM 600 at the top of the charts for July. JMS sold books when he wrote ASM, and he's a fine writer, generally, but the stories were just awful, imho.

My biggest worry for ASM is that with a 3x per month schedule, attracting and holding top writing/art talent is going to be a challenge. Most guys are used to the 1x per month schedule and have a tough time holding to that! The shifting teams seems to have worked ok, but it creates consistency problems. Wacker, on the other hand, truly deserves a medal.

I think if the people are given enough time, they can write a 3 parter way before it will see print... remember, the stories thus far are plotted up until next spring, so if you have a top notch writer wanting to throw a story in there, (s)he can be given sub-plots ideas to throw in there, and simply tell their tales...

:yay:

It's funny, those are the books that actually got me OUT of the DCU.

EVERY year its some "Crisis". Now, with Blackest Night, they're basically doing "DC Zombies". No thanks.

Marvel isn't doing any better. Secret Invasion was the most anti-climactic crossover ever. I think Civil War was the last crossover I enjoyed from Marvel, and I only enjoyed that moderately.

Image is where it's at, now.

Its nothing like Marvel Zombies tho....

I figured that! Also, I'm sure there won't be 3 sequels that get progressively worse as they go along. The last two MZ stories were just sad.:csad:

I wish that both companies would just halt the crossovers for awhile. I mean, it's like each event is the meaningless preamble to the next big event. It's BEYOND old.

Of course, so long as people continue to buy the crossovers, tie-ins, one-shots, prologues, epilogues, and t-shirts, I suppose the big two have no reason to stop.

Here's the August top 10, still awaiting the actual numbers, however.
