I'm mainly a DC reader, but I always liked the idea of the Squadron as an analogue for the Justice League and I'm interested in reading something that focuses on that aspect of them. Can anybody recommend anything?

Thanks.

Mark Gruenwald's Squadron Supreme story is often considered Watchmen before Watchmen. I'm making the recommendation blind because I haven't read it yet, but I think it's hard to dispute that it's the most widely praised story with these characters.

Thanks for that recommendation. I've just been reading up on it on Goodreads and I will add it to my buy-list

Gruenwald's story seems to have a lot in common with another Moore work, Marvelman Miracleman, which came out about the same time and which I love...

"Wouldn’t beings with superhuman abilities get tired of cleaning up our mess? Wouldn’t they take control of the world’s governments and run the planet at their discretion? What would such a totalitarian world look like? "

Definitely looking forward to reading SS.

Gruenwald's maxi-series is one of the best comics ever created, bar none.
