God this is the saddest thing I ever did see in a movie that was supposed to make somewhere in the 300-350 mill area domestically.

Sadly, I agree with you. I never thought it would take this long to reach 200 million.:csad:

To think, I actually thought it could reach Spider-Man's numbers.

O'well, come on Superman 2.:yay:

well, it looks like a lock now for 200 mill.I hope Singer ups the anti so to speak, for the sequel.....but we shall see.

I sure hope so.

It is certainly sad that the film actually generated less interest than Signs (227 million), Rush Hour 2 (226 million), Armageddon (201 million) and many other equally dissapointing crapfests.

I liked Signs and Armageddon?

Same here they were not bad movies. I really love Armageddon, Signs was ok, even tho I don't like Mel Gibson that much.

I thought Armageddon was really good, I am in the minority there. I also thought Signs was a really creepy take on sci-fi.

No,I loved Armageddon too.I saw it twice, and bought it once it came out.Signs was just o.k. to me,not bad,but not great either.

Even though I am different, I am glad I am not alone.

I  Armageddon.

I thought Signs was a great alien invasion movie, very grounded in reality. Its up there with Close Encounters for me.

What's the point of chasing numbers now? Even if it hits 200+ million (which is likely I guess), it's still a disappointment.

At this stage a sequel can already be expected, so why are people still so excited that it's finally reaching 200? (misplaced) pride?

I think it is something to follow for some people, not sure. Probably the same reason some are excited and hoping it won't 200million.

Because, despite what a movie might cost, the $200 Million Benchmark is petty much still the benchmark for "Blockbuster Movie" status. Just as recently as ten years ago, $100 million was still the benchmark for somehing to be considered a blockbuster film, but that's all changed as making $100 million is a pretty commonplace occurence these days. Very, very few movies cross the $300 million mark, despite what everyone here might say. In fact, only 22 movies have ever made that much. ( Domestic I mean ) In five to ten years time, with the cost of movies going up ( As well as ticket prices ) $300 million will be the new benchmark for the term "Blockbuster Hit" But until then, I would easily say it's still $200 million. That's why the figure is still important.

That's right. Same thing was going on with Batman Begins last year. Once it hits 200m we can officially call it a blockbuster.

Well then i hope ever more SR makes the $200 million mark then.

One of my favorite movies..I try to watch it anytime I see it is on TV. I haven't seen Signs..guess I will have to add that to my Netflix queue.

Signs is a fantasic movie IMHO and deserved even more than it made.
