Because, despite what a movie might cost, the $200 Million Benchmark is petty much still the benchmark for "Blockbuster Movie" status. Just as recently as ten years ago, $100 million was still the benchmark for somehing to be considered a blockbuster film, but that's all changed as making $100 million is a pretty commonplace occurence these days. Very, very few movies cross the $300 million mark, despite what everyone here might say. In fact, only 22 movies have ever made that much. ( Domestic I mean ) In five to ten years time, with the cost of movies going up ( As well as ticket prices ) $300 million will be the new benchmark for the term "Blockbuster Hit" But until then, I would easily say it's still $200 million. That's why the figure is still important.
