the new RHCP album is absolutely astounding. Words can't really describe this double disc album. With each album these guys make, you sit in awe at the newest perfection of their sound, and SA is no different. If you were to take all the best pieces of their 20+ year history, molded them together, you still wouldnt have the perfection of this album. It truely is one of the most beautiful albums I have ever heard, and that is an unbiased fact. Every song (all 28 of them) pours with emotion, lyrical truth and wit, musical exellence...they all span from beautifully crafted melodies to chest thumping jams, all the while never loosing sight of how they are and have become over the years. Each song gets stuck in your head after you are able to pick your jaw up off the floor, and very little does that (to me at least). They truely are soaring through new ground and reinventing the ground they have already traversed over the years. There is not a single song you want to skip over. In fact, you are torn between hitting repeat or hearing the next amazing track. Really, even if you arent a RHCP fan, you have no soul if this album doesnt appeal to you.

It was 11.99 at Best Buy today, when usually their day/week-of releases are 9.99, so maybe a little more expensive than usual but probably not double. Or maybe it was just cuz it's the new RHCP album. Course, I didn't buy it. But. :o

Thanks for the review. This album's been on my "Get List" since I heard about it. You're not the only one to give it stellar reviews, either.

Yeah, the guy in front of me had that. All I saw was a little black plastic looking box about the size of a 6 or so CD cases stacked up. Didn't see em on the shelves, so I didn't look into it much.
To be honest, I might have bought it on a whim...but the cover is so...bleh. :/

guy who works at a local shop sells things you want early only to certain people.

honestly, and only because i need the money more than ever, i shoulda waited til tuesday despite having that feeling that i was in on the big secret, so to say, early.

Hard to Concentrate is such an amazing song. Sadly, I'm sure the radio stations will play it to death once it becomes their new single and then I will hate it.

Really though, this album is astounding. Every double disc non-greatest hits album I've ever heard could have been reduced to a single disc without loosing anything, this one really couldn't. I'm hoping to get tickets to see the Red Hot Chili Peppers when they go on sale saturday morning:up:

I just snagged tix to see the Chili Peppers live. Mars Volta are opening. The crappy part is that now I have to wait until August to see them.

I don't know if he'll sit in with MV or not. Wouldn't be surprised to see that happen, though. Mars Volta aren't strangers to the Chili's, either. They toured Europe with them in '03.

    nevermind . . . the closest they're coming to me is Chicago, and that's Lollapalooza . . . shytty!

They were here in Milwaukee a couple years ago, but the turnout was kind of shytty . . . they probably won't be back here for a looooong time :(

Unreal that they would get a poor turnout anywhere. Milwaukee must suck. I blame Laverne & Shirley.
