Star Fox Is Coming To Wii U. June 10, 2014 . 7:34am

Nintendo’s Shigeru Miyamoto is involved with a new Star Fox game for the Wii U.

TIME report that Nintendo are developing a new Star Fox game for the Wii U. Speaking with Nintendo’s managing director, TIME discussed a number of upcoming Wii U games that he is involved with. Here’s what they had to say about Star Fox:
In his new version of Star Fox — still fundamentally a spaceship-based shooter — players now use the GamePad’s motion controls to aim and fire the Arwing’s weapons, simultaneously controlling the nimble craft itself by thumbing the joysticks to accelerate or turn and pull off signature moves like barrel rolls, loops and the tactically essential Immelman turn. And you can still morph your Arwing into a land tank, rocketing down to the surface of a planet, then rattling around the battlefield and laying waste to the landscape.
TIME says that the new Star Fox game has a new vehicle mode as well, that is designed to “exemplify the new motion-control scheme”. The mode lets up to two players pilot a helicopter-like craft, with one player controller the craft itself and the other controlling a robot that can be used for damaging enemies and picking up loot.

Miyamoto’s other two titles are called “Project Giant Robot” and “Project Guard”. Both are in experimental stages, and TIME says that Star Fox is “at least” a year away. The designer said to TIME that Nintendo have been experimenting with Star Fox since the days of the Wii, but couldn’t settle upon an idea for the game until the Wii U.

Wow, definitely interested in this!

he'll be show later on Nintendo twitch to show it off stay tuned to the E3 thread
Yep, that seemed to be what the tease implied. Apparently the game is very early and very rough, which is probably why they didn't show it on the main broadcast. But honestly, I don't care. I want to just see something. :D

Aw yeah! I was so sad to see conker has gone over to Microsoft but after seeing star fox I reckon they can keep him!

I really, really hope you can play this game with the Wii U Pro Controller. I still can't stand any kind of gyroscope or motion controls.

Miyamoto Thinking Of Including Mechs In Star Fox On Wii U. June 13, 2014 . 5:30pm

Nintendo’s Shigeru Miyamoto says that the Star Fox game currently being worked on for the Wii U will probably end up utilizing certain ideas from another prototype of his.

Speaking with Entertainment Weekly, Nintendo’s Shigeru Miyamoto says that the Star Fox game currently being worked on for the Wii U will probably end up utilizing certain ideas from another prototype of his—Project Guard, shown at E3 this year.

“Perhaps if you noticed in Project Guard, there was a Star Fox logo on the cameras! I have different ideas for what would be possible, but I haven’t finalized anything yet,” Miyamoto said, when asked if Project Guard would be a game of its own, or whether it was merely a prototype that was meant to be part of something bigger.

“One idea that I had for Star Fox is something like the Thunderbirds TV series, where they had all these different vehicles and Mechs that they could use. I’m not certain, but one thing I think about Star Fox is that, instead of just a ship-based adventure that we’ve seen in previous Star Fox games, there’s multiple different mechs and vehicles and things that they use. And maybe, within that, the Project Guard style of gameplay could be one element of sort of a larger-scaled thing.”

Miyamoto added, “The other analogy I’ve been using with the team is that the Star Fox games that we used to make were Star Fox for the movie theater, a big dramatic adventure. And this time, with our focus, it’s a little bit more of Star Fox if it were a TV series. So maybe Project Guard is the TV series of Star Fox that runs late at night, and the main missions of Star Fox are the TV series that runs in primetime.”

Meanwhile, Wired reports that Star Fox for Wii U has been prototyped entirely within Nintendo, and that the company is now looking for an external developer to take on the project and see it through to the end.

An arwing that turns into a mech a la Macross could be pretty badass.

This is possibly the biggest name Nintendo could announce to get me interested (beyond all the ones that we already knew were getting games or have had games).

Star Fox Wii U playable at E3, features GamePad cockpit view

Star Fox for Wii U should be playable at this year's E3, according to what Nintendo's Shigeru Miyamoto told Smosh. A good sign that the game will make its intended launch later this year.

Miyamoto also detailed that the game will utilize the GamePad's touchscreen as the ship's cockpit view, while the television will display the Arwing in third-person. "One of the things that we're doing is, often times in games you have the cinema scenes where it's a movie that's playing and you have to just sit back and watch. There's no gameplay," said Miyamoto. "But because we have the GamePad with the second screen, what we can do is have these cinematic sequences in the game where you're still able to look around and play."

During a pre-recorded segement for The Game Awards, Miyamoto said Star Fox for Wii U would be out before the next Legend of Zelda, also expected to be available this year.

Star Fox Zero Coming To Wii U. June 16, 2015 . 9:10am

Star Fox Zero has been announced for Wii U. The game will consist of both air and land battles.

Star Fox Zero has been announced for Wii U. The game will consist of both air and land battles, and Nintendo showed it off at their E3 2015 Digital Event.

The Wii U GamePad will provide a first-person view of your craft, while the TV will depict a third-person view. The Wii U’s gyro function will be used to aim, and the buttons on the GamePad will be used to perform flips and also to transform your vehicles.

Vehicles featured in the game include: The Arwing, Landmaster, GyroWing.

Star Fox is based off of Japanese culture that inspired Miyamoto to create it, which is why the title is Star Fox Zero, since Miyamoto likes how the Japanese kanji character for zero (零) looks.

So maybe I missed it but is this game TBD when it comes to when it is coming out? I don't remember seeing a date.

They just said Holiday 2015. I missed the Treehouse bit, but did they say if the gyro stuff was mandatory? Hoping I can rock this game with Pro Controller.

It wasn't mentioned. Though, they said you could use it to be firing straight up while still going forward.

I do like the chicken mode.

hmm I'll have to put up VOD of the tree house as well. I hope it's all there.
