Rumor: The reason why Obi-Wan hasn't had his own Star Wars spinoff yet
Why are people so married to the idea of an Obi-Wan Kenobi movie? Do we really need to see him hanging out on Tatooine getting old and grey?

Just because he didn't leave Tattoine doesn't mean he just sat around and got grey and led a boring life. An Obi wan movie in the vein of old westerns or even like a Logan type film could be really good. Plus, Ewan is great as Obi-Wan and I'd love to see his take on a post mustafar Obi.

We've seen enough of Tatooine. I want new stories and new characters. Also, a new Obi-Wan movie would be nothing like Logan. Every indication was that Kenobi was pretty much lying low and watching over Luke for 20 years. Even his latest encounter with Maul lasted all of but seconds. He wasn't getting involved with the Rebel Alliance either.

So true.

I highly doubt Lucasfilm/Disney is willing to shell out the cash for A Fistful of Kenobi. I think it's a fantasy that's never going to pan out.

I think it will totally happen, but it is going to happen off world. He is going to "leave" for a bit.

Given the recent developments, it's kind of funny to read the posts about the Obi-Wan Kenobi movie. Don't blame you guys, though. I didn't think it would be coming either. However, I trust Lucasfilm that there is a good reason they're doing it, that there is an important untold tale to tell. I have the same attitude re: the Han Solo movie. I don't know, maybe I'm being too blindly optimistic but they get the benefit of the doubt for now because the first spin-off movie, Rogue One, was fantastic!
