Star Wars: Knight Errant

I tend to order the older comics off Amazon because I don't really have a good comic shop nearby, which limits me to either going into NYC for Midtown Comics or ordering them online. New releases I usually go to a Barnes and Noble for.

I'm with Corp on this one. I tend to try getting stuff from a shop first before resorting to the internet. Something about Cashless-transactions leaves me worried. I'm stone-age that way.
Doesn't worry me, I'm just impatient. If I order online, I have to wait for the first delivery attempt, then call and have them hold it at the local UPS facility, then go and pick it up the next day. I'd much rather just buy it in a store and have it in my hands right that second, even if it is a little bit more expensive. Granted, I've wanted the omnibuses for like a week and a half now, so I would've had them in-hand if I'd just ordered them from Amazon right when I first decided I wanted them, but logic holds no sway over me. :o

Nah, I still can't commit to online transactions unless its "Cash-on-Delivery" which is seldom. Not that I've ever been scammed before but I've had a couple of friends who receive sub-par merchandise or damaged goods or simply packages that never show up. I'd rather not chance it. Plus after my father's Credit Card fiasco, I made it a point to avoid plastic currency.

I'm a bit wary of auctions and direct seller transactions for those reasons, but Amazon's a pretty reputable company. I've never had problems with how they ship stuff or missed delivery dates or anything fishy on my credit card with them.

I read Star Wars: The Old Republic's "Blood of the Empire" trade. Only realized after I was done that it was a collection of a webcomic I could've read for free. To make matters worse, it wasn't even that good. It felt pretty disjointed and awkward in places, and it doesn't paint nearly as interesting a picture of the Old Republic as the KotOR game or comics. Pretty underwhelming all around.

If you're looking for more interesting views of The Old Republic, the best bet you've got is in the Darth Bane books, the Knight Errant novel, and the Old Republic tie-in's Fatal Alliance and Deceived. I'm looking forward to Deceived, especially, because I'm a fan of the author's style.

I don't think I'll ever read any Star Wars novels. I tend to limit myself to just the movies, cartoons, and comics. Novel stuff I usually pick up from Wookiepedia when I'm looking up who someone in a movie, cartoon, or comic is supposed to be.

I like the books when it was more streamlined. And I usually pick up books which feautred characters other than the big 4 (Luke,Han,Leia and Chewie). X-Wing by Mike Stackpole was a huge fave of mine because it featured Wedge Antilles (who any SW geek will point out to you is the pilot to survive 2 Death Star runs).

The Thrawn Trilogy is a must read by most EU fans. It ties into a LOT of the Expanded Universe lore and I thik Dark Horse made a pretty good comic adaptation of all three books.

I know who Wedge is, but I've never really gotten into the Rogue Squadron or any other "normal soldiers" types of stories.

I saw the Thrawn adaptation. I also saw an adaptation about Luke being corrupted by the Emperor's ghost or something like that. I'm planning to get both eventually. Right now I'm focusing on Old Republic stuff, though.

You know what would be awesome? A series that expands on Kyle Katarn's adventures. I think that guy is pretty much my favorite character in all of Star Wars.

They had a Katarn story set during the Vong war in one of the Tales issues. It was pretty good from what I remember. Why they gave Jaden an admittedly good novel before him is beyond me. :csad:

He was in Crosscurrent right? Since I never played any of the older Star Wars game I never knew who he was though the Grevious looking Sith had me interested. But it was right in the middle of Fate of the Jedi so I gave it a pass.

Yeah, Crosscurrent. And it's actually set in the period between Legacy of the Force and Fate of the Jedi, and has nothing to do with anything pertaining to FotJ right now.

Also, Knight Errant #5 comes out today, thankfully. I need more Daiman in my day to day life.

Might be the last of Daiman you see in 4-colored form. Enjoy it.

Insider already confirmed there was another arc coming. I was relieved, to say the least.

Can I just say that I'm pissed Jaden Korr's canonical race/gender is human male? First off, humans are boring. We have enough of them in Star Wars. Second, "Jaden"? Totally a feminine name. No, just stop; it's a feminine name.

Also, my purple twi'lek Jaden was super-hot. :o

:lmao:

I wanted him to be a Kel Dor, so I guess we agree in principle?

It just seems like the Star Wars universe is waaaay too white-human-male-friendly. The movies already have that covered; let's see some diversity in the media that don't have to worry about makeup or CGI costs. I was glad to see the KotOR II Exile at least got to be a woman, albeit a white, human woman.

I feel the same way. Probably why in Mass Effect I go for relationships with Aliens. My battle-scarred Renegade chick had Garrus falling so hard for her bad-assery.

I think most writers still use Aliens/Non-humans as just backdrop characters of Alien booty. Its sad but most readers are kinda looking forward to seeing hot Alien chicks. I for one always liked non-Human Jedi stories and any Stormtrooper POV story you can find.

Are there any video games where the canonical protagonist is an alien? I feel like they're always about characters who are already set in stone and aren't customizable in-game (Luke, Kyle, Vader, Starkiller, etc.) or they're made into humans for the canon (Revan, the Exile, Jaden). I'm blanking on any who made it into canon as aliens.

In Star Wars? None I can remember. I think its the argument that readers/players can't relate to an Alien protaganist.

And they may have a point. Think it about it, comics like Martian Manhunter don't sell as well as they should because the character is too Alien. Granted, Superman is an Alien too but he looks like a human and has a terrestrial upbringing so there's your relatable factor.

Series like Warhammer 40,000 has like 9 factions but every other novel focuses on Space Marines/Imperial Guard/Chaos because Humans are much easier to write or are more...accessible to the reader.
Indie comics have quite a few Alien protaganists. Zen comes to mind, one of the better Indie Sci-Fi stuff back in the day.

Damn it straight to HELL. My shop forgot to put #5 in my list!!! DAMN IT!

I'll hunt for it soon. Guess I got too...comfortable with pull lists and such. Time to get re-acquainted with the Hunt.

Knight Errant will be back in August, with the release of the second comics arc, titled Deluge. We find John Jackson Miller writing, Michael Atiyeh art and Joe Quinones on covers.

The events of this arc will take place just after the novel.

Kerra Holt returns to her homeworld of Aquilar, which fell to the Sith decades ago. But her enemies, and even her allies are not what she expected, and Kerra will learn that some things are worse than the Sith.

Quinones should be doing the interiors...
