It's hard to muster any enthusiasm for Star Wars but Gosling is one of my favorite actors.

I'll watch him in anything.

And don't get me wrong, I like Ryan Gosling. I loved The Fall Guy. But this just sort of speaks of LucasFilm's uncertainty and sort of wishy-washy nature with the franchise.

The only reason they are moving with this film is because Deadpool made 1.4 billion. They really seem clueless and doing what they feel is the safest bet at the moment.

Yeah but most of Gosling's star vehicles other than Barbie, which starred Margot Robbie, and La La Land have flopped.

Yeah, he may not be a solo box office draw but man does he elevate everything that he’s in.

And Star Wars is the star here. Like Ewan McGregor or Jude Law, Gosling will just elevate it all.

This all just makes me think that Gosling could have made for a really good Anakin in the prequels. Not that he could have made the script any better (ESPECIALLY Attack of the Clones) but he at least had the charisma even back then.
