Star Wars: The Force Unleashed

Emperor Palpatine could sense Luke Skywalker's power from half a galaxy away. And Luke, at that time, wasn't even 1/10 as powerful as that teaser would suggest said apprentice was. So, wouldn't you think it possible that maybe... just maybe, Palpatine might sense the apprentice's presence when he stops a ****ing Star Destroyer.

Maybe Palpy kills the character off at the end of the game?

Well, the 360 will have multiplayer too. Plus, it's going to be online. They haven't announced any specifics though. Not yet. The Wii version could be awesome if they get the controls right, although it isn't being developed by LucasArts and I'm assuming it won't have Euphoria or DMM.
Yeah, but Wii-saber combat...

As I said, wait and see

If you can customize the lightsaber (appearance? moves? stances?), it could mean that the melee fighting won't just be an afterhought

Good damn point. I hope ur right.

I found a somewhat new (from Jan. 9th) article and while it doesn't really contain any new information, there is something mentioned, that worries me a bit and something else that has me excited. I'm only going to post the new part since everything else mentioned, we already know.

While the single player game is expected to be a little on the short side when compared to recent 20+ hour epics (to ensure everyone gets to see the whole story if you believe what LucasArts say) the package promises to offer some serious value for money in the multiplayer department. Exact details are thin on the ground but LucasArts are making all the right noises and the potential for greatness is certainly there.

Anyone else worried that the story might be short? At least they seem to be taking multiplayer seriously so, that's good.

ooooooo interesting :D

im not worried about it being short at all. as long as its fun as hell ill be happy

Yeah. While I am worried about single player, I am not that worried. I've had a lot of fun with lots of games that reviewers found short.

the multiplayer thing is really interesting though. wonder what it will be

It is interesting but we don't know anything about it yet. Only that it'll also be online. The PSP version will support up to 4 players, for multiplayer so I hope the 360/PS3 versions support more, or at least the same.
They also need to have different multiplayer modes because even though a free-for-all deathmatch would be nice, it would probably get boring after a while.

What multiplayer modes would you guys like to see?

just the normal modes for FPS would be cool for me, with some added star wars themed ones.

if its a death match though, using the force and other players and having lightsabre battles to would own so much its unreal.

Did anyone get the latest Game Informer? It has a preview of The Force Unleashed. So does PSM. I don't have either but that's what I've heared.

If anyone has them, any info and/or scans would be appreciated. :)

Like I said before theres new never before seen screenshots of the game it looks amazing, and here Im typinga summarize verison of the article in game informer:

As the next chapter in the Star Wars saga this game is all about expanding gamers perception of the force and how it allows a single warrior to take down an entire army. In the time we spent playing as Darth Vader's Secret apprentice we used the force in ways we had never inmagined.

The first mission you'll undertake as the apprentice occurs in the TIE fighter construction facility. Because Lord Vader has ordered you to leave no witnesses, all inhabitants - including stormtroopers - must be eliminated. When faced with a handful of armed guards , we simply reached toward the ceiling and sent an entire TIE fighter crashing into them. We then used the force to throw the flaming cockpit inot another group of enemies (giving us a payoff camera view of the destruction) and jumped inot the fray with our red lightsaber swinging. (From what we saw everything in the envirement is game to use your force powers on.)

All the individual Force powers will be mapped ot their own buttons on the controller, so players wont need to mess around with selecting moves from a menu screen. The fluidity with twhich the powers are integrated into the compbat is reminiscent of the cult hit Psi-Ops. A press of the right bumpermight initiate a force grab on a hapless rebel, while holding ti down will start to choke him as he hovers in mid air (leaving you free to fling the corpse into a gun turret) If you happen to get surrounded by Felucians, you can hold a button to charge up Force repulse, a power that throws enemies back at lower levels - and pulverizes them when powered up.

Being able to use these abilities on the fly is impressive, but even better are teh waysmultiple abilities can be combined for different effects, Even a simple power like force grab can lead into some jaw-dropping situations. For example, imagine you are holding a droid aloft; you could skewer the it with your lightsaber, send a nearby metal container flying into it, or channnelForcelightningto turn it into an unstable bomb that will explode on impact. If you prefer melee commbat you could use Force push right after a dash to send foes reeling back, then charge your lightsaber with lightning to increase damage and reach.

Now picture all of these scenarios with the previously announced Euphoria engine, which allos characters to interact naturally with the enviroment.

With its new summer release date, gamers may have to wait a little longer than expected to start unleashing the force, but the extra time looks like its serving the game well. After playing just one level, we're ready to give in to the dark side.

And some key points to notice each one with a new screenshot in the magazine:

1.- Each level will unlock a new look for the apprentice, but you can unlock additional customes in other ways.

2.- You can level up the Apprentice's force powers, fucusing on your favorites. (which means as you use it more and more you get more exp to put into them)

3.- Rancors can be pretty tough when you cant crush their skulls with a metal door.

4- Theres also games called the force unleashed coming to PS2, PSP, DS and Wii, but they wont be using the same technology that allows the PS3 and 360 versions to simulate behavior and enviromental properties.

EDIT: The pics look amazing. All of them are in-game besides the second pic with the tie-fighter. The last one from the second page seems to be from the Wii version.

As long as the short ride is kick ass, then thats all that should matter. Plus it seems as if all the games these days are short.

Delayed?

"Retailer Amazon.com has updated the street date from this spring to August 26 for all three console versions, while EB Games still shows an April 1 release date. LucasArts has yet to formally comment on the change at Amazon, but The Man Room sees no reason for Amazon to arbitrarily make up their own dates."

It will be better than Call of Duty 4. So good, in fact, that you might actually make good on your promise and use Xbox LIVE!

The latest Game Informer has a preview of the game (check my above posts) and they mention that the game has a new Summer release date. This is also mentioned at the official site. If you wait until the teaser trailer starts playing, instead of skipping it, you'll se "Coming Summer 2008", under the video.

I'm so glad Blas thinks it's MY FAULT that we haven't played Live, when I've had it FOR THE PAST YEEEEEEEEEAAAAAAAAAR!!!! :D

KHAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAN!!!!
