Set on the subterranean Mine-World, a band of human worker are treated like slaves under the power of the evil overlord Zygon until one, Orin, unearths the hilt of a mythical sword that only he can master. Escaping the planet, he runs into the rogue smuggler Dagg and a pair of helpful droids and the princess, who all team up to return to the Mine-World with a plan to defeat Zygon and free Orin's enslaved people.

Rilean Pictures has acquired rights to "Starchaser: The Legend of Orin," a 3D animated movie from 1985, and plans to remake it as a live-action film, Rilean Pictures told TheWrap Thursday.


Juan Iglesias, a Rilean partner, told TheWrap that he saw the cartoon as a child, and became fascinated with it then.Steven Hahn produced and directed the original "Starchaser," about Orin, a human slave living in the subterranean Mine-World, who embarks on a quest to find a sword blade that will defeat his captors and bring about freedom. Hahn will executive produce the new movie.

Through a partnership with Go Digital and Lionsgate, Rilean is distributing "The Trouble with Bliss," starring Michael C. Hall, Brie Larson, Peter Fonda and Lucy Liu, on Video on Demand March 23, concurrent with the theatrical release by Variance Films.
Iglesias said that Rilean is now developing "Starchaser" and is looking for a director and writer.

I love this movie. Many call it a rip off of Star Wars, but it really has its own identity. This itself is better than all of the three Star Wars prequel movies combined. I love when the Little Digger gets his sight back.
