Starz Original Series - Spartacus: Vengeance

I really enjoyed this latest episode. Nice to see more of this expansion of locations.

Ashure needs to come to an unpleasant end! May the gods see it done!

It's always Asher isn't it.

The irony is that Crixus and the rest of them made him what he is.

Nah, he was always a punk. Look at what he did with that bald guy who he was supposedly friends with back in Gods of the Arena. He's like the Batiatus of the slaves. A snake.

what happened to actress who played Naevia originally?

Unfortunately, Lesley-Ann Brandt (who played Naevia in S1 and GOTA) decided not to come back, presumably because she's got many offers so it makes no sense for her to stay with the show. It's too bad.

She also stated she wasn't interested in the nudity anymore. I can understand her feeling like she didn't need to strip down to get work anymore. I hope it works out for her.

Well, it's not like Naevia had alot of nudity scenes as I recall, and definitely less than other female roles. I understand her decision but if it weren't for Spartacus' success I doubt her career would've taken off. I'm just disappointed since the only reason why Andy Whitfield didn't return was due to his failing health, but LAB just decided not to continue for career reason. They may have a new Naevia but to me it won't really be the same.

Wrong! He's Syrian, so he was always this way.

That is a racist statement.

Ashur is the way he is because he does whatever is needed to survive. He knows he isn't a good gladiator and with that gimpy leg he can't hold his own physically so he uses his intellect and cunning to outplay jarheads like Crixus, Spartacus, and others. Although Spartacus is smart enough to recognize how dangerous Ashur can be, as we have seen in Blood and Sand.

i like how the former actress who played Navia looked, she has an exotic face. This new actress looks like another boring black actress.

This latest episode was filled with the power of meh. :( I didn't care for Navea's replacement any more than having Liam. I guess I thought they would have tried harder to find someone who at least looked a little like her predecessor.

I still find it hard to believe that they could go into a mine and get out with so few losses nor do I believe that the Romans wouldn't kill Crixus the moment of his capture or have him crucified, but I suppose for the sake of drama it's back to the area for him. I dunno. I am liking this show less and less with each new episode. Unless something changes, I don't think I'll be finishing out the season. :( I miss Andy.

Crixus being a real lieutenant of the actual Spartacus is it known whether he was captured at some point? I'm curious if he was.

As to him being killed on the spot, Ashure wouldn't want him dead. He can't be tortured and provide info if he's dead. Not to mention the troops would report back to Clabor who would then decide his fate. Its more likely he wouldn't be crucified or killed immediately. Also consider that Clabor now has two people that could be bait.

Actually "Ashure" was scorned by the entire house the minute he showed up. Sure he had the cunning bite in him from the beginning but what would have happened if everyone didn't hate him from the jump.

They should have just killed naevia offscreen instead of replacing her.

Two recasts for season 2 is too much.

Two recasts in one show makes the show meh for me as well.

I think I've figured out why I still can't get used to Liam:

a) He needs to hit the gym HARD.
b) He plays Spartacus like a typical action hero IMO.

I bought Spartacus: Blood and Sand on blu-ray and watching the featurettes really made me miss Andy a whole hell of a lot.

I think I read he had just lost weight for some other role before becoming Spartacus. I'm sure that issue will be resolved by next season if TPTB really care.

I feel Spartacus is just written as a different character now. I assume it has to do with him taking on the leadership role.

I still find myself missing Andy...especially during the last episode. I keep imagining how he would have played the part. It's not that I dislike Liam. He's doing the best that he can. I would feel this way about any actor taking over the role. I agree that Liam needs to bulk up. It was pretty noticable in the last episode. Everyone else was ripped and Liam was looking lean.

i hate ashur someone kill him please! dont care too much for liam im watchin for the return of gannicus!

I think Ashure will be the one that screws them in the end, and set the slaves on the course to mass crucifiction

now, are they gonna make Crixus fight Aenemaus, or will they return whatshisface so they can have that long awaited rematch?

Me, too! I just wonder if it will be only a short reappearance. I am hoping for more, but I wouldn't be surprised if he's only in one or two episodes tops. :(

It was a pretty good episode last night. I was good to see flashbacks of Gannicus! I do agree that Ashur needs to go and Liam needs to bulk up a little. I realize that Spartacus was supposed to be more of an "every man" but he looks a little too skinny. Andy wasn't huge but he was definitely toned.
