State your unpopular television opinion

Something like...

So-and-so is the most overrated show on television. Oh, and I don't have any actual reason or anything, I just dislike the show. Therefore it's overrated.

The fact that Alan Ball went from Six Feet Under to Tru Blood is hugely disappointing.

Contrarianism without explanation drives me crazy too...but that's why we should stick to just expressing views we have that happen to be unpopular, rather than sniping at someone else's.

Surprising that a TV version of this thread hasn't been created until now. I've mentioned one TV opinion in the "State your unpopular film-related opinion" thread, because someone else brought it up first, and it happens to be very unpopular: I really liked Joey. It never became a great show - it wasn't given the chance - but I thought the writing was surprisingly solid, more in the first season than the second, and they actually built a strong cast around Matt LeBlanc: Drea de Matteo, Jennifer Coolidge, and Andrea Anders were very funny on the show.

Every episode of House is the same. Mystery illness that baffles everyone, House does his Holmesian deduction and solves it at the last minute. Hugh Laurie is great, but it gets old.

I have an unpopular one, I'm hooked on teen mom and 16 and pregnant. It's just so funny. I literally can't stop laughing. It's the most meta comedy that isn't a comedy on tv

I've hated every Star Trek series. Ever. Don't understand the appeal (and don't reply and try and explain it, because I don't care).

I also never enjoyed the American Office. It always felt inferior to the British original. I do greatly prefer Ricky Gervais to Steve Carell. He had a skeevier, darker edge to him. They were both clueless, but Gervais was pathetic and desperate, while Carell was just goofy.

Thing about Star Trek is, it has some cool concepts, but it just executes them so incredibly poorly (with rare exception).

They manage to make interstellar travel and exploring alien planets seem boring and mundane.

The 2009 movie actually did it right.

Friends isn't even THAT funny.
I liked it, but I still stand by what I said lol.
Shows with canned laughter though, I'm not a huge fan of, because it's like without the laughter, you wouldn't get the joke.
I said that to 1 of my mates (who is a HUGE friends fan) about Friends, and she actually agreed that she laughs with the laughter, because she didn't know when it was appropriate to laugh LOL!

I did see the 2009 movie and enjoyed it.

I'm pretty much the same. I do like The Undiscovered Country, and I like Nemesis better than most people, but I agree that Star Trek would have interesting core concepts but just portray them really badly.

I also don't like how every alien species in the universe just happens to look like a human with a fake nose and forehead.

I do really enjoy the 2009 movie though.

"Mad Men" is one of the most boring TV shows i've ever tried to watch.

Same. Looking back on it now, I don't find it funny, save for a couple chuckles here and there. I was told that it took some time to adjust to its humor/style, so I kept giving it a chance, but it never worked for me. And I hated Carell and Michael Scott. I was glad when he left, though I had stopped watching at that point. In fact, I rarely enjoy Carell and his characters except for Anchorman and Crazy Stupid Love.

I also never liked Star Trek either, until the new movie. I still don't care for the universe, but the movie made it at least fun and enjoyable.

And I loved the Lost finale. But I'm a total fanboy of that show, so I'm biased.

Never cared for the Office either. I love Seinfeld and a friend told me if you enjoy that you'll like this too. Nope.

Season 6 of Buffy was my favorite. Season 3 of Lost was my favorite. I'm trying to think of some others lol. I seem to always have very unpopular opinions on tv shows. I couldnt ****ing stand season 5 of The Wire. Or season 6 of Sopranos. Thats about all I can think of off hand

Oh and as much as I hate reality television I am ****ing hooked on Bad Girls Club. Them *****es be CRAZY

I liked season six of buffy for the most part too. After the stakes of season 5, it made sense for there to be sort of a calm after the storm the next season, more character driven stories to show the fallout of an apocalyptic event. I also really liked the concept of the villains being a bunch of nerds trying to get back at the world, I just wish they had been portrayed as more of a threat, though I suppose that was sort of the point.

Right?!? And Willow's entire arc that year? AWESOME

Season 1 of Boardwalk Empire was boring as all hell and nothing really happened.
Season 2 was dope as **** though.

Friends isn't even THAT funny.
I liked it, but I still stand by what I said lol.

I like Friends more than you probably do, but I agree wholeheartedly on the canned laughter. I really, really miss the days when shows like Friends, Will and Grace, Seinfeld, etc used live audiences, because the reactions are so natural and can bring you into the show even more. Not just the laughs, but stuff like the gasps during shockers, or cheers during the big moments. Shows with canned laughter don't even try to pipe in those. I've heard so much good stuff about How I Met Your Mother, but I just can't get into it because the canned laughter is sooooo fake that it just takes me right out of the show because it's so distracting.

I gotta agree about Boardwalk Empire being boring, I love that show but it can just draaaag.

I'm not in any hurry to watch breaking bad. I'm sure I'd like it, and I keep hearing about how awesome it is, but idk, I just don't have any motivation to go watch it.
