i wasn't strictly referring to that video. she did shoot some holes in it, but there was a bit of avoidance going on in certain publications about colbert's routine. i've never liked her. acerbic conservitive chicks aren't my cup of tea but, to each his own.

still trying to uphold the illusion of "the liberal press", huh? the reason no one laughed is because he was attacking them too for being spineless. plus, i think most of the people in the audience were either in shock that he had the balls to say what he said or were scared to laugh in the president's face about him.

The are more openly mocked in society than any other minority...imagine if people on tv said their things they say about rich people but said it towards mexicans.

You have got to be joking. First, the opulent are an economic, and perhaps cultural, minority which is entirely different from an ethnic minority. Second, because of their status on the economic ladder and thus their overall influence, if a rich person is mocked it is most likely by somebody who is beneath them in terms of power, something that is far less prevelent in discrimination towards ethnic minorities. Actually think for a minute and maybe you'll see that you're coming off as a whining brat.

I laughed. I guess if the audience does not laugh that makes the whole thing not funny. You must remember who the audience was, the exact people who he was tearing to shreds. The entire thing is hilarious. They deserved it. They invited him fully aware of the kind of humor he is known for and their behaviour warranted that kind of ruthless castigation. Left, right, they all deserved it. Colbert had the balls to do it. I want to shake his hand.

Its not even about being an ethnic or cultural minoritiy. Wealthy people are a political majority, meaning they have every advantage available to them in this country, so when some rich whiney brat complains about people being mean to him because his daddy makes good money...The need for me to projectile vomit all over him becomes paramount.
