Colin Farrell eyes Steve McQueen's "Widows" with @violadavis (EXCLUSIVE) http://bit.ly/2o6ZW5r

Colin Farrell is in negotiations to join Viola Davis in Steve McQueen and New Regency’s heist thriller “Widows.”
Farrell also recently signed on to star in Disney’s “Dumbo.” Production on that movie, however, was pushed back one month, allowing Farrell to squeeze “Widows” into his schedule.

Details behind Farrell’s role are vague, aside from the fact that he’ll play a politician that finds himself mixed up in the widows’ plans.

Carrie Coon joins the cast.

Edit:

Other reported cast members are Jacki Weaver, Garret Dillahunt, Kevin J. O'Connor, Brian Tyree Henry, Lukas Haas and Manuel Garcia-Rulfo.

Definitely one of my most anticipated for this year.

Lovely, Can't wait for this one. One of my most anticipated.

Good God that's a good trailer. McQueen has a near flawless filmography. The sheer talent behind and in front of the camera on this has my ticket sold. Cannot wait.

I don't know if it's misleading or not, but this looks much more commercial than I initially thought. I can see it being one of those surprise B.O. hits. It looks really good.

Could make a good Get-Out 2.0

Will Carrie Coon have more than two lines?

Yes it's more commercially based movie. The original TV show it's based on while not a great show per se was popular because of it's plot.

Good to hear. It's a great cast so I'm all for it doing great commercially.

From what I read, he's the [BLACKOUT]villain[/BLACKOUT] and it looks like he's going to rock it based on the trailer. :ilv:

W'Kabi and Paper Boi working together.

Steve McQueen keeps winning. Can't wait.

Trailer is more commercial because Fox is distributing it. They're going to try to sell it as a more conventional crime thriller, but I'm sure Steve McQueen will have his usual touch (long takes, for example) to it.

It's the same case with Warner Bros' marketing of Place Beyond the Pines.
