Warner Bros, Steven Spielberg, Jennifer Lawrence Land War Photog Memoir ‘It’s What I Do’

ixeLdBj.jpg

EXCLUSIVE: In a whirlwind auction, Warner Bros is closing a deal for It’s What I Do: A Photographer’s Life Of Love and War, a memoir by Lynsey Addario that has Steven Spielberg attached to direct and Jennifer Lawrence to star, with Andrew Lazar producing. The memoir has been the hot title since it was excerpted by The New York Times Magazine, and there were no shortage of bidders for the life of a woman who goes into the most dangerous places in the world in search of truth.

Here’s who the bidders were: Working Title was angling to get it for Reese Witherspoon; Darren Aronofsky has been trying to get it for Natalie Portman, The Wolf of Wall Street‘s Margot Robbie was after it, and The Weinstein Company was bidding for George Clooney and Grant Heslov. The subject met with the bidders and everyone was sold on her remarkable personal and professional life.

These are all very formidable choices, but how do you compete with a package of Spielberg directing, and Hollywood’s top young actress in Lawrence? Warner Bros previously got close with Spielberg on American Sniper–Lazar produced–and the big Moses movie Gods and Kings, and now maybe the third time will be the charm. ICM is repping the author.

Spielberg, go back to directing big blockbusters again! :argh:

Darren Aronofsky is off his marbles if he was trying to get this with Natalie Portman.

Jennifer Lawrence
Reese Witherspoon
Natalie Portman
Margot Robbie
...George Clooney

Damn... I wish Weinstein got it so we can see Clooney transform to a woman. OSCAH! :awesome: Redmayne who?

Damn I forgot about that. :funny:

If that happened Redmayne would've gone full method acting and requested a sex change for his role.

I love all of those other choices, but it's going to be hard to beat an alliance between Spielberg and Lawrence. That's like old school and new school Hollywood power teaming up. One has been nominated for three Oscars before the age of 25 (and won one) and currently stars in multiple major franchises, and the other is Steven freaking Spielberg.

Tis a shame, I think Darren would've given us a more interesting, if more polarizing film than what Spielberg will give us. No doubt it will be well made, but Aronosfski has been a lot more interesting than Spielberg lately.

When was the last time Spielbergo gave us a fantasy based flick?

Speaking of which, has there been any news on the sequel lately? Everyone kept insisting it would happen, and then it faded away...

Last I heard Peter Jackson was getting ready to direct.

Ugh. The thought of Clooney in drag just put me off any man in drag. :o

I'm gonna have to go look back at that Redmayne still so I can feel normal again.

Too late Daniel or should I say Danielle day Lewis is already taking hormone injections

Clooney as 'lip synching transvestite' in The Harvest.
:D

Not even the best American director. Let alone worldwide.

Well, now you're just talking crazy talk. There are directors out there right now that can't touch what Spielberg has done direction wise over the decades. Most directors were inspired by the **** he's done....indirectly for the most part.

This is the PERFECT Hollywood team. :woo:

This movie will get Oscar attention for sure.

I think this will be an evolution for Jennifer Lawrence's career, a role that can allow her to get out of her comfort zone and take on something new.

Spielberg will absolutely get the best out of her and she can prove to people that she can take on a role like this.

Someone pointed out to me that this is first Spielberg movie with a female protagonist since The Color Purple. So basically the star of his most recent female-led movie wasn't even born the last time that he made one.
