Steven Spielberg's ''Terra Nova''

I'm curious only because I want to see what Spielberg's clout will provide for a current sci-fi series with today's fx work.

I liked this show when it had a catchy opening.

Marshall, Will, and Holly,
On a routine expedition,
Felt the GREEEAAAAAATEST earthquake ever known!

:doom: :doom: :doom:

Wasn't "On the Lot" the last show Spielberg did for fox?

Superbowl Promo looked awesome.

It looked like a SyFy show, but with better effects.

It looks all right. Looking forward to the premiere.

Fox's 'Terra Nova' Won't Get Preview In May
By NELLIE ANDREEVA

Fox has scrapped the planned May preview of new adventure series Terra Nova. The prehistoric drama from producers Steven Spielberg and Peter Chernin, originally eyed for a midseason premiere this season, had been scheduled to air a two-hour preview in May, followed by a fall launch. Because the producing team needs more time to work on the show's elaborate visual effects, the preview has been pulled and the series will now premiere in the fall. “Terra Nova is one of the most ambitious television series ever produced,” Fox's entertainment president Kevin Reilly said. “The cutting-edge visual effects used to create the world of Terra Nova, which is of massive scope and scale, require more time to be realized. This aspect of the series is essential, so we are pushing back the special early preview date to give the visual effects team the time needed for their ground-breaking work.”

The Terra Nova preview was scheduled to air over two nights, Monday May 23 and Tuesday, May 24, at 9 PM. Now Fox will air the season finales of The Chicago Code and Glee in the slots.
I'm not amused. :csad:

..Great. So even if they do manage to make everything look good in the first couple episodes, everything after that will look like **** because they can't handle the time table vs the amount of work involved.

This looks pretty awesome!

Man they have overused that money shot, looks decent though.

The premises still bugs me though. If you want to survive, why would you go back in time to live with dinosaurs. Have they forgotten what happened to the dinosaurs? Hopefully they'll have a good explanation.

Actually, what I'd like to know is, how do they avoid causing a billion Butterfly Effects as illustrated in A Sound of Thunder (short story and movie)? Do they eventually hide their existence [inadvertently or not] via the extinction event that kills the dinosaurs?

Depends on the rules the story follows. Maybe this creates a new, separate timeline. On the other hand, if humanity is doomed for extinction anyway (in the time they come from), maybe they just don't care either way.

I'll be impressed if they actually use the right dinosaurs. Something funny about a T. Rex showing up in a Jurassic Park.

Well, you KNOW they gotta have one. It's a dinosaur staple. Besides, they'll at least be in the ballpark, since 85 million years in the past is still the Lower Cretaceous period, which is the age of the T-Rex. Although from everything I've read, they're still off by up to 20 million years from when the T-Rex was dated thereabouts (65-67 millions years ago).

But yeah. Jurassic + T-Rex = nope. But JP at least had the excuse that they simply revived extinct dinosaurs and they simply named the park in a way that "popped." "Cretacious Park" just doesn't have the same ring (even though they actually DID have Jurassic dwellers in the park). :oldrazz: In JP, they didn't go back in time.

That mosquito must have lived for a damn long time...

Don't get me wrong, I too am a fan of the T. Rex, and I wouldn't mind them using it here so much. The Jurassic thing just bothered me. It's not like there's a lack of cool dinosaurs in that period.

If they use a T. Rex in Terra Nova, it's at least in the right period (if off by a few million years). No one knows what a Gorgosaurus is. To the average viewer, all tyrannosaurids are T. Rexes.

Kind of looks like Avatar except with Humans...

thankfully there isn't much blue color going on in the inking coloring scheme ... focus on green and hues hefners yellows and red and orange mustard sexy brown sand **** color...

Oh man, those posters look awesome. I love the first two. I hope it sticks around for more than a season. *shakes fist at Fox*

With all the time that's been put into this, I cant see them ending it without a fight.

Plus, do you think the simpletons at FOX would want to incur the wrath of the Spielberg? I sure wouldn't. :o

I'm actually counting on Spielberg to be the stopgap in terms of FOX pulling the trigger early.

I'm looking forward to an American weekly action flick with dinosaurs and time travel. I've been barely surviving on BBS's Primeval.

Does Spielberg actually have involvement in these shows that he is producing? I see his name on so many shows and find it hard to believe that he is directly involved in all of them. It seems like they just slap his name on shows for the name recognition and industry clout.

How much are these episodes costing Fox? I bet there are already plans to cancel the show after 10 episodes so they can put it on dvd, and make their money back that way.
