Streaming Wars: Which Service do you Use the Most?

HBO Max is by far my favorite and most-used streaming service. After that, it would go…

Hulu
Disney+
Prime
Peacock
Netflix

The only reason I still have Netflix is because it’s shared from my Dad. If he ever ditches it, I will not miss it.

Binge (essentially HBO Max for Australia) - Stupid amount of high quality content, between Barry, Curb, What We Do In The Shadows etc. Plus movies.

Disney +, right now. Still getting used to it, but obviously SW, Marvel, The Bear, Classic Simpsons and Family Guy etc. Plus movies.

Netflix... I mean, every now and then they've got a movie I really want to see (the next being Glass Onion), but predominately it's become my Stranger Things/Cobra Kai service. Once those are wrapped I may re-asses.

Paramount +... might go. So far I've only really kept it for Star Trek: Strange New Worlds and I watched The Offer. Might be that I unsubscribe between seasons of ST: SNW.

Would like to check out Amazon Prime, but just don't want to get another service yet.

Oh damn I totally forgot about Paramount+ lol. I'd put that above Peacock on my list, probably. I'm only into it for the ST shows mostly, but that will change when the Avatar stuff hits.

In terms of use, right now I would say:

1. Disney+
2. Peacock (I watch a lot of WWE and Premier League)
3. Shudder (that time of the year)
4. Paramount+
5. Hulu
6. HBO Max
7. Netflix
8. Prime (thought I get Paramount+ through it)

My services ranked by how often I use them:

1. HBO Max
2. Disney+
3. Netflix
4. Prime
5. Peacock

Disney + / Netflix / Sky (cable streaming)

Prime
Apple TV

No HBO Max here yet and no Hulu. I’d get Paramount for specific shows but not stay subbed.

I can't remember if Hulu is Star for your territory.

Oh maybe, I’m pretty clueless on it. Star is the one included in Disney + right?
Yeah cause US streamers keep speculating that Hulu will be folded into Disney+ here.

Nice. Disney + could do with the backing of a large quantity of normal stuff to go with all
the specialist material in there (what I consider Marvel / Star Wars / Pixar / Disney classics to be).

Interesting. I wonder what other streaming mergers we'll see in the future before all is said and done.

Personally I would love it if Apple TV were to merge with another streamer. They have some quality original shows like Ted Lasso and Severance, plus Shrinking looks very promising. The issue is that's really all they have. There's no library of past popular shows that Netflix, Hulu or Peacock has so once you're done with the handful of shows and movies they have then that's pretty much the end of the road. I'd love it if they merged with another streamer to give more of a reason to stick with a lasting subscription but it's not likely to happen since Apple is its own empire already and they don't even need a streaming service as is.

Thanks to Wednesday, Inside Job, The Haunting series, Mindhunter, and I guess That 90's Show I have a reason again to watch Netflix other than New Girl and Seinfeld. They lost 30 Rock too, but luckily I have Hulu with No Ads now and Netflix Basic (720p vs 1080p, but it's 9.99).

Yeah even after losing as much content as they have, Netflix still has a decent selection. But that price hike was still a little high for me, so once I'm done chipping away at my watch list I'm cancelling the subscription and only re-upping for a month at a time when a show I want to watch drops or comes back.

Yeah I couldn't justify paying $15.50 a month for the content they have. Stranger Things is coming to an end and Witcher is probably done after this season. I don't see them producing another major must see show anytime soon. Again, they do have some of my comfort shows like Seinfeld, New Girl, and Community but it's still too expensive. Plus if I get bored of Netflix, I can just switch on over to Peacock Premium Plus (the alliteration!) for a couple of months for their shows.

Apple has strict rules around content. Like they would ever make an overly violent show like The Boys. I can’t see them partnering with anyone.

So MGM+ is a thing.

1. Disney+ (we have to Hulu-stuff included)
2. Apple TV+
3. Sky WOW (that’s where the HBO serie go)
4. Netflix
5. Prime (only for RoP and Hunters)

1. HBO Max
2. Disney+
3. Pluto TV
4. Netflix
5. Tubi
