Anyone here besides me dealing with student loans? Right now I'm at the point where I don't think I'll ever get to pay these people.

I have 6 Grand left to pay and just under 3 months to pay it :down

The tax people will be coming after me soon but I just dont give a rats.

I graduate in May '08 and I'm already dreading having to pay back loans :(

i have no idea how i did this but i made it all the way through college withouth any student loans.
Upside? I'm not gettign hounded by Sallie Mae.
Downside? I never established any sort of credit history so now, ten years out, i still can't get approved for a f'in credit card:cmad:

You can't, not without some form of credit. I'd recommend getting a student credit card while you're in college....mine is coming in the mail right now. I got mine through Discover, but I think that all credit card company's have one.

They have a section for you to fill out your job info, but it isn't required. You do have do get approved of course, but I'm not sure how they do that if you don't include that kind of information.

Don worry about it.
Its basically free money, if were talking about the UK student loans company they won start taking money back out of your monthly pay check until u are making over a certain amount.:yay:

£18,000

comes out of your paycheck before you know what's happened...

You can choose to do that over here in the U.S. as well. Regardless, you have to start paying back loans 6 months after you graduate. And the less you can pay back at a time, the greater the interest that builds up :(

A student credit card?

I don't have to worry about student loans thanks to my uncle. Okay, he's your uncle too (his name is Sam). Being in the military does have some benefits. As for getting credit without a credit card, I bought a car (my dad co-signed for me) and established my credit that way. Years later I had no problems buying a house. I do feel bad for my sister, she owe's about 20 grand on her loans. I don't think she'll ever pay them off.

I make my last loan payment tomorrow. $0.24.

I'm fortunate enough not to have to pay any type of student loans, grants and scholarships is whats getting me through, the rest my folks pay for

Hmm I'm pretty sure mine is interest free, and you def do not have to start paying back until u are making enuf each month.
Hence I have not strated repayments.

Wow, I've never heard of any like that.

The trick to these loans is like paying off a credit card bill. Pay more than what they ask, so you won't be paying off as much interest.
