Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip

I like the show, but every time we get a glimpse of the sketches in the show within the show, I can't help but kringe.
You can tell they are worse than the worst SNL sketches of all time and don't get me started on the celebrity impressions...

I love Mattew Perry's character, he's one of the best written male characters I've seen in a long while, and he pulls it off great

I still think this show is fantastic, but I doubt it's going to make it through NBC's big cutbacks.

I love the drama in this show... but the comedy is just awful. Whatever happened to the speech that the show opened with? After the first couple of Christian skits, everything died down to slapstick and low-brow.

I think it would be so much better if they never had the show in the show. It's so well-written if you ignore all the times it tries to be funny.
Now that´s a huge problem, when you make a show about a famous comedy show, but the comedy bits that refer to it suck. I mean, the prime audience for this show is people who watch SNL, and they´ll compare the sketches.

I liked this show a lot. I've been worried about DL Hughley's character, Simon Stiles. A lot of times writers get so distracted by a character's ethnicity that they don't know what to do with them... or are scared to. I think the head first way they tackled race is simply awesome. Simon Stiles is amazing, to say the least, and he makes me love this show. The new Black Writer is going to be something else I hope.

The other thing I loved was a flustered Jordan McDeere. I mean, man... wow. Her seeking friends just seemed so awesome and really showcased the show's vibrant quickness. The history of the studio was simply outstanding, Tom's thing with his dad, being the bigger man was just amazing. I didn't understand the blacklisting though, I guess I got confused. Also, I thought there were TOO many parallels between the present and the past... the Matt-Harriet sendoff seemed too coincidental for me.

Everybody watch the F***ing show!!!!!!!

NBC is about to cancel Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip, one of the most hyped shows of the fall season, FoxNews.com columnist Roger Friedman reported Sunday, citing unnamed insiders. Although the network announced last week that it had ordered three additional scripts, and top executives continued to praise the quality of the show, cast members have reportedly told friends that cancellation is imminent, the cable news network said. Ratings for the show, from producer-writer Aaron Sorkin, continue to slide, with last week's audience tallied at 7.7 million versus 17.5 million for CBS's CSI: Miami in the same time period. Fox said that the show will likely be replaced with a reality series or game show.

yeah i read that earlier today... they ordered 3 more episodes but they're also going to cancel it apparently

maybe to wrap up the show?

this link goes into more detail: http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,226092,00.html

Hopefully the Golden Globes will still nominate the show if its canceled. The only thing saving the show is the demos, people with incomes of $75,000 apparently make a big chunk of the audience. How about a new timeslot NBC? The hype did kill this show.

Its not getting the viewers because it is way to much like Sorkin's other show Sports Night. Plus it is kind of boring, & predictable.

It need to have at least one good "real sketch" every week, the show within the show can't say it's about cutting-edge political and social satire if we don't see any.

or it should have just stuck with not showing any... but i guess that would have gotten old fast, too.

They should've just said the were a comedy show, not the best or that they needed to become to best because it doesn't look like.

NBC needs to stick to their guns...everytime a show slips a little in ratings they cancel it...its the reason people don't watch NBC now imo. Cuz they know as soon as they get into a show...it'll get canned. It pisses me off so much that NBC is so stuck on having instant success with all their new shows...what if they just kept airing them, so people can let it settle in and start to tune in and discover the show on their own...millions of people suddenly realize this stupid ass NBC trend of cancellations...we should seriously start placing bets on how long certain shows will or will not last.

I am not a huge fan of the show, but I understand why people like it. With that said I don't understand why there is this mentallity to give up on shows so easily.

Look up any show that has been a huge hit in the last 20 years. They all started off with low ratings, but ended up great. Why don't these people give shows a chance to flourish?

The big problem, as some people pointed out, is the show is about an SNL kinda show, but the sketch bits don´t work and it ends up being more of a drama than a comedy. A similar thing happened to Sports Night, a show that didn´t seem to know whether it was a drama or a comedy. It´s likely to be another Arrested Development, but without the support that Fox showed to that show.

I don't know...it was just one of the few non-gimickey adult shows on T.V., but paralleled a little too close to reality...just the whole idea of it being very close to SNL...and Bradley Whitford looks almost exactly like Lorne Michaels...maybe people thought it wasn't funny that NBC thought they could poke fun at themselves and thought people wouldn't take it the wrong way.

I'm not sure which report I believe more, but I'm glad the show's still got legs to stand on.

Sometimes shows dont' have new episodes every week.

Unless it's 24.

It was going to be a re-run anyway.

With "Studio 60" benched, "Friday Night Lights" (8.3 million, 3.5/9) got the call at 10 p.m. While it was beaten by "CSI: Miami" (14.2 million, 4.3/11) it finished ahead of ABC's "What About Brian" (6.4 million, 2.9/8). "Friday Night Lights" not only outperformed last week's "Studio 60" (7.7 million, 3.2/8) but also was ahead of the 6.3 million (and 2.6/7) that it did in its regular time period of 8 p.m. Tuesday.
