Sorry to make this into another thread but there is loads of long thought out conversations/debates/arguments in the other one and I thought this would make an interesting topic. So the sides have confirmed a number of things going on in The Dark Knight. Lets list them and see if anyone has noticed some that others have not.

Sal Maroni is 100% confirmed to be in the film.
....................................................................

The Joker DOESN'T work alone. He has henchmen who he seems to have brainwashed, or they are just very scared of what he could do if they **** something up.
....................................................................
The Joker pulls a bank robbery.
....................................................................

From reading those sides, these three are the only things I'm certain that happened. Everything else as far as I am concerned is up for debate.

Add more so I can see if I missed anything and also for people who were unfortunate enough to miss the sides. However only add to the topic if you are sure you are right about what you're talking about. :woot: :oldrazz:

100%:
Scarecrow is out and about gassing people and working for someone, possibly Maroni or Joker.

Bruce Wayne is friends with/or gets to know Harvey Dent, not just Batman

Police chase Batman

Up or debate:
The Joker rigs bombs on ferries, begging the question of how Batman reaches the ferries for a rescue.

Vigilantes make everything more complicated. Might help ready the audience for a Catwoman in number 3.

Bruce Wayne travels to Hong Kong in the present day, it's not flashback.

Yeah I didn't really get that from the sides.....where did you see the Scarecrow gassing people?

It's strongly suggested Scarecrow is in it, it's not confirmed.
I think there's strong evidence that Dent is scarred by a mobster, not the Joker, as we have thought for the last two years.

Are you sure?

actually no. but it seems like the junkie got a dose of fear gas from the 'Bodyguard' who threatened to 'unscrew his brain'. It'd be unnecessary and confusing to use the gas again if it's got no other relation to BB

also the 'cop' interrogates a thug about his buried boss's whereabouts. It would also be unnecessary to introduce another (missing) mob boss, so this makes it more likely that Jokers origin (gangster) will be explained

aside, i was wondering if WB might purposely include misinformation in the sides. nothing guarantees they weren't written exclusively for casting minor roles, and they might have expected they would find their way online...?

Aye, this crossed my mind as well. These could just be test lines, that were never intended to make it into the final movie.
Regardless, I think the scenes, dialogue and tone show the Nolans are going in the right direction.

But this could just as easily be somoene interrogating Zasz or something.

Whoa whoa whoa, were did you get that? Did I miss something here?

ok sorry I've definitely leapt to conclusions. The Gannon scene. Gannon - an elected protector - is defending Batman from the beautiful Natasha who arrives bearing champagne on the arm of 'Kennedy' (who stays silent on the matter) at Gannon's house

no the point is why introduce a missing boss that's presumed dead? if they needed a *merely absent* mob boss well then there's Falconio. also it's in a specific location. why is location important? are there chemicals around that will alter a corpse to confuse forensic examination? and if someone is buried half alive well then they'd probably come back seeking revenge.

I was wondering this, too -- you might have actors come in to do a reading with the existing script pages, you pick them, then right before they're due to film, you give them the "real" pages, with corrected character names and somewhat (or maybe entirely) different dialogue, that still gets the point across.

Writers often write "sides" completely separate from the film, although from what I understand those are usually written for the bigger roles.

ok, I think this is somewhat confirmed by the sides

The Joker injures either Loeb or Gordon badly and the city is concerned about what the Joker will do next

Okay, I think I've been gone from the forums a bit too long.....I'm lost here. What sides?

"Hush-hush people, let's see if he can figure this out by himself..."

Oh man...

You really missed the boat on this one...

I wouldn't say anything is comfirmed, especially if these sides are from the first draft of the script. even Maroni. why would everyone else have a false named, but Maroni is still Maroni?

The only reason I can think of is they didn't want to identify characters from BB. Maroni is new to TDK so it doesn't matter, and actors are unlikely to know who he is. Knowing the identity of the real characters might affect an actors performance in audition.

Man, some people don't know the maining of the term "confirmed". There are tons of conclusions being drawn here.

We have no idea whether or not Scarecrow is loose. This movie could very easily take place mere days after Begins, and therefore people are still insane from the climax of Begins.

yea notice how i said confirmed in the title and in the original post. i think it would be fair to say the three things i have listed are pretty much confirmed.
