Do you think it works? Have you ever practiced it or experimented with it or experienced it?

Frankly, I do believe it works and try to practice it.

When I was in High School, if I had a test the next day, I would write down the stuff I needed to know and put it under my pillow - believing that through osmosis my grades might improve. I don't know if the act of clarifying my thoughts on paper or if putting it under my pillow did the trick... but it did seem to help my grades.

Now I have a little one of my own. At night, after he's asleep, I'll go into his room and whisper "You're a wonderful boy" or "Mommy loves you very much" or "You are a smart boy". Things along that line.

It really depends on the form of messaging, the message and the duration. Even then these things are often weak and you can't get someone to do something against their will, only push an inclination further, perhaps enough to give in and say get some fast food when they weren't intending to because they're on a diet.

I have no idea if what you're doing helps at all (I can't recall anything specific on that) but it certainly doesn't hurt.

When I was little I use to try it all the time, I don't think it ever worked.

I will try it on TMT *Please do a picture of me too in the 'What hypsters look like thread* :D

WOW! I have this strange desire to draw a picture of Sensi in the What hypsters look like thread.

I believe subliminal messages work because the subconscious soaks in everything. All day it's absorbing tons of stuff that we don't consciously pick up on. It doesn't seem too far-fetched to me that if someone really wanted to, over time they could make you feel a certain way towards something. Nothing too fancy or grandiose, I'm talking more along the lines of making your mind connect one thing with another. Based on the context it could be positive or negative, and can even guide someone to a specific thought. The thing about it is the message might not make a strong connection, but it's very possible. I dabbled in mentalism a while back, and while I don't have the balls for that form of presentation I really found the theory behind a lot of it interesting. :o

I find it funny how much stuff is just blatant though lol. Like, these McDonalds coupons show up in the mail every now and again, I usually pay them no attention. Then one day I took a good look at them, and in BIG, bold letters above an airbrushed hamburger...

"CRAVE".
*BIG MAC*

Hahah.

I keep getting pretty interesting ads on my top page of these forums, like Tracey Morgan seducing me and Trojan Condom ads. I swear there's a subliminal message in those trying to tell me something.

Maybe on the feeble minded.:oldrazz:

Or people who are going through an illness, whose brain is experiencing physical damage on a daily basis. How about folk who take advantage of that situation? Who amass a large group of people and organise them to send constant negative messages on a daily basis over a long period of time, in order to whittle away their confidence and break their minds down into a million pieces.
So that between the physical damage they are already going through, and the constant negative messages, they can reduce the person to the state of an animal, bringing in such mind stress and pain that the person will obviously not be in their right state of mind or on anything remotely resembling their best behaviour, so that when bad behaviour obviously comes about as a result of this, the people behind the conspiracy can then sit back all innocent and play the good guy.

If a person/group of people orchestrated anything like that against me, I wouldn't forget it in a hurry.

Must ... send ... money ... must ... send ... money ... to UltraLantern.

Not gonna lie. It's pretty creepy that you do that.

But I do think there might be something to it.

I believe it works. When I was in high school and I wanted to get up on time I'd say get up at 6am several times before I fell asleep. The next day I'd be up at 6am.

Ditto. It's not exact, though. I usually tell myself I'll wake up before a certain time... then I do.
