Subscribing to DC

Hello all,

I've really been getting into DC comics recently and with the relaunch coming am planning on subscribing to around 5 titles. However, I'm not sure which ones. I'm a big fan of Batman, so I was going to pick up a subscription of Batman and Detective Comics for sure, but wasn't so sure about Batman: the Dark Knight, and Batman and Robin. So I guess I'm just looking for advice as to what you think about those two titles, and any suggestions you might have for comics I should subscribe to.

Don't get a sub to Dectective. Tony Daniel is an awful writer.

Action Comics
Batman
Justice League

Definitely.

After that it really depends on your interests. Animal Man, Aquaman, Batgirl, Batwoman, Green Lantern, Justice League International, Swamp Thing, Stormwatch, Nightwing, Wonder Woman...they're all bound to be good. It just depends on your preference of characters.

As for Batman and Robin...it should be good. It has a great creative team on it, but they did three issues already, and they were kind of lackluster. That said, they probably knew about the reboot at that point, and kinda phoned their story in. I'll definitely be picking it up.

Tony Daniel is an awful writer.

Understatement. The man completely cannibalizes the artform of writing; he's really good at drawing pretty pictures though.

Only now all of his art looks rushed and crappy.

Probably because he's busy writing.

I don't read BATMAN that Catgirl arc was too atrocious; so I have no idea where his art is now on the regular. I will say though that I enjoyed his Titans as the JLA piece in this week's issue #100 of the series.

So far I'm only looking forward to the Batman and Batman Beyond reboots.

Definitely get Batman because it's being written by Scott Snyder. His Detective Comics run is AMAZING! It just ended last week I think but it was so freakin' great. Plus they are teaming him with Greg Capullo. If you remember early Spawn issues you'll remember Capullo. From the preview art I've seen it looks REALLY good.

I'd also highly suggest Swamp Thing, Animal Man, and Action Comics. I love Grant Morrison's All Star Superman run and if he does ANYTHING similar to that on Action Comics it's gonna be worth it!

I'm from Europe. And comicbooks are hard to get a hold of. The new digital initiative from DC should in theory be the best thing ever for me...But I'm afraid I'll lose my collection some day. I'm only buying the licens to read the books. And they can remove the whole collection from one day to the next if the service isn't working for them

Is it only me that's having doubts like this?

It's a concern, but I'm sure if Comixology ever closed down, they'd have someway of having you keep the books you've purchased.

They'd be sure to have a class action lawsuit on their hands if they didn't.

My favourite hero is Batman too but i'm going for Justice League, Action Comics, Wonder Woman, Superman and maybe Aquaman and Batman.
Wonder Woman seems to be the one that looks better, i'll use that title to get into the character's stories
