Comics Summer 2011: "Infested" and "Spider-Island"

Anyone loved that Captain America poster in Pete's apartment?

The moment when he proclaims, "I'm going to save EVERYONE", along with MJ's next line brought chills to me.

Same here... that double page spread made me feel glad to still be reading Spidey comics...

:yay:

Read all the Spider-Man issues, now I need to read the rest
How did Hercules transform to a Man-Spider? He's half human, not a normal human, so it should have not affected him

That old bum looking dude that wanted to steal something used one of Jackal's bed bugs that the bum guy altered even more cause he wanted Herc to distract that Spider-Goddess.

I think Loki was "dead" when OMD came out, so his use was at least "off the table" at that time... :o

Not my problem because ...

We have all been talking about that Loki loophole for years now. Also have to remember that "technically" it was under JMS' run and we all saw how Marvel treated him.

It was clear that Joe Q had an agenda to end the Spider-marriage that would not leave Pete divorced or a widower. I believe JMS was in on the fact that things would be retconned magically at the end of his run to fit this agenda. It seemed like the Loki loophole was being set-up exactly for this purpose. So, if Joe Q was the Editor-in-Chief of Marvel, couldn't he make sure Loki didn't "die." Or if those plans of Loki "dieing" were important to the Thor story, at least time Spidey's "magical retcon" to happen either before Loki died or after he came back?

It's too bad his run didn't just end after the end of the Totem arc and it would have been perfect, in my opinion. Then we had Sins Past, Skin Deep...etc.. :csad::oldrazz:

Yes, Pete & MJ were well written and I love JR JR's artwork! But, as you said, when JR JR left and Sins Past started, the wheels really started to come off the bus* and have only recently recovered with Slott's Big Time.

*a time I would now rate as worse than the Clone Saga of the '90's

Ah, ok, going to read the issue later today

I know it's not part of this, but I read Part I of the aftermath of Spider-Island in Amazing Spider-Man. I like the story I must say, although at times, Spidey's a little too jokey. I like where they seem to be taking Toomes. And Hobgoblin is very jokey too. Which is kind of interesting.

Well, this story is still loosely tied to Spider Island. I'm thrilled this is Toomes and not that Gauntlet "thing." And Hobgoblin is a different character since Big Time, so the jokeiness fits the new character.

Well, if you read the recent Greg Rucka Punisher series you would see why the newer version of the Vulture is not around.

Is the identity of Hobgoblin known here? If so, I don't want to know who.

Yes, readers have known since the second issue of Big Time. No one knows however, he is a mystery to everyone, including Kingpin. So, if you're reading it, it's not a mystery. If you go back to the start of Big Time, you can get up the speed, I won't spoil you if you don't want to know.

I'm happy the Queen is dead. Both stories she's appeared in have been pretty horrid to me, so she's 0 for 2 at this point. Hope she stays dead for a good long while ;)
Also, have they ever explained how the jackal came back?

I was just going to ask where the heck this character went to and then I read ASM # 674 and got my answer. The new Hobgoblin has a TON of potential but I'm just disappointed that Slott hasn't used him more in the book...he's a great "anti-Peter Parker" type of character in the new Big Time status quo. Hopefully we'll get more of him in the coming issues.

well, supposedly the one that feel off the roof of the Daily Bugle was the clone...

That completely cheapens the character IMO.
Oh, the jackal is dead?
Doesn't matter, cause sooner or later that'll turn out to be a clone
Seriously, that's one of the several reasons why I just don't like that character.

Also why I don't like the Jackal. We're stuck with him. You kill him? Clone...

And yes, that was a clone of the Jackal.

Tbh, I do expect him to return in later issues.
