I just assume most hotels have a crappy gym so I don't even bother looking but the guy who booked the trip pointed this one out

If you don't have a family (which triples your travel expenses), I would recommend a few places: Grand Tetons National Park in Wyoming, Alaska or Utah for the national parks. I've been to a lot of national parks in the West, Tetons is the best - fewer people, more wildlife, better vistas, good size and hard to get to.
