People don't give Terry Bradshaw the respect he deserves. He was the 1978 NFL MVP and won 2 Super Bowl MVP's. The Steelers won Super Bowl XIII 35-31, so the defense didn't come into play there. Bradshaw threw 4 TD's during that game. Super Bowl 14 he threw for over 300yds and 2 TD's and won 31-19. So, IMO, Bradshaw is a top 5 quarterback.

Bingo. Bradshaw was a football god. It's true, he had a great team and possibly the greatest coach of all time. But he also did a lot of the work himself.

Congrats to the Saints on a dandy of a win.
I'm still in shock from that onside kick. Just brilliant.

Watch this video and try to tell me that Bradshaw isn't every bit as good as those guys.

Watch these videos and try and tell me he's better then any of them:

Dan Marino
Joe Montana
John Elway
Tom Brady
Peyton Manning
Johnny Unitas

Bradshaw won a lot of Superbowls...but in terms of overall talent and stats he's not in the same league as Marino, Elway, Manning, Montana, etc.

In terms of performing in the playoffs he was great...but when determining an All-Time great list he falls outside of most Top 5-6 for a reason.

In terms of overall talent, Montana isn't in the same league as Marino, Elway or Manning either.

If you are going to use that sort of argument against Bradshaw, you have to use it against Montana.

Holy cow, I just now realized that a whole Super Bowl weekend went by, and Norm hasn't showed til now. What the puck

Just separate the categories... playoff guys are guys like Aikman, Brady, etc. Every day guys are Marino, Elway, Peyton, Farve. It's just preference whether one weighs the post season a lot more than the regular season. I am more of a Farve, Peyton, Marino, Elway group than I am the other four guys with 3+ rings.

It's been a long week.

did Sean Payton touch you in a bad place??

The Saints game plan against the Vikings was one of the most cowardly things I have ever seen. Neither the Saints nor the Colts deserved a Championship.

Drinking his frustration away :awesome:

That's my plans for THIS week. Drinking and Hyping is always a good decision.

Meh, to me Peyten Manning, Dan Marino and Brett Favre are comfortably the best 3 quarterbacks in NFL history, all for different reasons (although Marino and Peyten's reasons are very similar) and are comfortably better than the 5 which Matt named.

Brett Favre is hands down the most well-rounded quarterback skills-wise that any of us have ever seen and his best performances are above and beyond the best of anyone else's. That said, his short-coming has been that he's so confident in his own abilities that he'll try and force s*** in there where its just not going to happen and he often had receivers who couldn't handle his passes.

Peyton Manning has the greatest awareness and ability to disect a defense and destroy it out of any quarterback in history, plays within himself (i.e. less f*** ups than Favre will have) and what's limited him has been what's been around him on teams. That said he got straight-up out-played by Drew Brees yesterday despite having a significantly better O-line purely because he made ONE major mistake whereas Brees made no such major mistake.

And Marino had a freak arm, was also brilliant at breaking things down and if he had half decent teams around him would have been racking up superbowl rings.

Brady had three with more talent than Manning or Marino could have dreamed of ever having, when Favre had the guys around him he won. It took Elway YEARS to win his two and that only happened because he finally had the guys around him to get it done. Which only further highlights the difference between Matt's 5 and my three. Matt has picked the "haves".

You put Brady on Marino's Dolphins and see what he would have done... or Peyton on Brady's Patriots...

What about a deserve, the road to this seasons final game, from @ least the best game plans had the top 2 teams contend, and was won in large part to a coaching call. The Vikings ****ed that up themselves, the JETS busted out and the rest of the talent went right down the line.

This ain't the leather helmet / Otto Ghram days, games like these measure Championships

The Patriots had better talent than Marvin Harrison, Reggie Wayne, Dallas Clark, Edgerrin James, Brandon Stokley, etc, etc, etc??

BRUTAL...Thems the brakes. Not the worst COLTS beat, but they nearly had it...Sean Peyton threw a wrench on the well oiled machine. That onside threw it all off, N.O. had the momentum after the half, and then...

18 fell apart.

EXCELLENT season, but it stings, SB runner up was bound to happen.

Congrats Drew Brees. I can't stomach all the Saints love fest, but losing to that group isn't a bad beat IMO. Good game.

...I want you take that ten dollars.. and buy your friend a plate of spaghetti and enjoy rollings meatballs back and forth with your noses in an alley like Lady and the Tramp

Yeah, no chance. One can argue that Marino and maybe even Favre had their hands tied in terms of the players they were surrounded by, but Manning has just about always had a top player at their position on his team, be it Edge in his prime, Harrison/Wayne over the last few years, and also Clark. There's never been a shortage of talent there.

Ah, a sports thread is nothing without Normans *****ing and moaning :awesome:

I  Norman :yay:

Norman, you and SurfDUI were the only two that didn't send me Super Bowl picks. We're you having a party together? :oldrazz:
