I want my signature to say most of it. But what do people think about Superman as a good father? Is it even possible? Things aren't looking good.

* Superman doesn't have the time to be a father. Either he is a devoted father, or he is no father at all. And he can't be devoted to his son, because he is too busy being SUPERMAN!

Father becomes the son and son the father.

.....then father has sex change and becomes the mother.

that may be the angle that Singer is trying to say-- which is bullsheit. its like saying working people cant be good parents because they arent at home 24x7. granted this is Superman we're talking about, but to say he'd make a lousy dad because he's at the world's beck and call isnt valid. we all know that when push comes to shove, Superdad will prioritize Superkid, and leave crimefighting to someone else.

I think a lot of people are exhibiting their own cultural and moral values on what a father should be. It wasn't until recently that the idea of mom and dad at home in the suburbs raising a family became the preferred idea of what a family is. This is an idea propagated as much by American movies and TV as by the unstoppable spread of suburbs around major cities.

Being a dad does not have to mean being home to raise your kid and take him to little league and cook his tv dinners in the microwave. Many kids around the world are raised in boarding schools and have very little everday time with parents, but maybe sometimes real quality time when they are together. How do world leaders, CEOs of major corporations, fishermen, military generals, secret agents, popstars and evil genius scientists raise their kids with such full schedules?

I'd think Superman would want to raise his kid like his father raised him.

Not only are you using comic sans as a font, but it's also in bold. BOLD! A heinous crime.

EDIT: And in size 4! It never ends...

Dude you need to Un-Bold the text in your sig, it don't look good bolded.

Call me a moron, but explain this quote. Yeah I know Supes is the son that becomes the father, but the son the father???

I don't really see a problem with Supes as a dad sense it looks as if Richard will remain the kid's father. I mean Supes and Lois both have to realize that while Supes is the father he has to stay away from the kid until he's old enough to protect himself, especially sense Supes has a lot of enemies and what better way to strike at your enemy then through their family. I think Singer intends for this to be the scenerio, but I could be wrong.

Which one

I don't know, maybe the one that raised him.

By leaving his son's upbringing in Richard's hands Superman is being the best father he can be, for the moment. Don't ask me how things are gonna go down if Jason's power begin manifesting more and more. I think Richard might just go up to Superman and ask him outright for help and that's when Superman will be more involved in his son's life.

What about Richard? What's he going to do when he discovers his son's not his son? I think he should just pack up and go back to the x-men.

No, Richard seems like the guy that would stick around. After all, he raised the kid, not Superman.

He can find time to be a father.

If he manages time to be a husband, and still please Lois.....then he can manage being a dad.

But, SR had it in a different way. I mean, technically speaking.....he still need to re-claim his son. He knows it's his kid, but he's a ways from getting visitation rights.
