just gonna say...the only time i like seeing supergirl in a skirt is a porn parody. i feel as if the new 52 suit is nice, but i would still like something less...porn star like. any ideas?

I always liked the traditional Supergirl "cheerleader" style costume. They always try to make it "Hip & Trendy" looking and when they do it stinks.

I don't even see why this is a discussion.

She would wear the same suit that Kal-El, Faora, Zod, and every other Kryptonian wore.

This I pretty much agree with. Though personally I would probably change the "main" color of the suit itself from blue to more of a brighter silver/platinum color, depending on how it would translate (for lack of white, which I don't know would mix all that well with the chainmail styling)

In the hyper-realistic world of Man of Steel this would be the only suit that would make sense for her.

Kara would stop wearing the kryptonian suits after she start living on earth and start to wear her Supergirl suits. Like the cheerleader skirt and maybe her new 52 one. The way Iron Man has more than one armour.

I find this suggestion a little dubious, particularly within the framework that Nolan and Snyder have created with MOS. I can't imagine any teenager who's just had their entire civilization wiped out would be in so big a hurry to acclimate to the ways of another civilization, particularly one that's just seen an entire city leveled by a bunch of HER people and is not all that enthused just to have one Kryptonian here, let alone two...not to mention what she'd think the second she finds out that her 'cousin' was the one who snapped the neck of the guy who fought to rebuild their world and reclaim the Codex that could have restored their species.

The version Helen Slater wore in the 1984 movie never looked remotely like a porn parody. I thought it was a fabulous costume and combines the most classic elements, even though it's actually the Matrix Supergirl who wears that costume. I prefer it to the bare midriff version.

Helen Slater's costume looked completely dignified and not demeaning whatsoever. I definitely don't want Supergirl to be wearing pants.

I don't it's the skirt that the issue. Though it reinforces that she's a woman. But the real issue is artist like to draw her ass.

I think the simple solution is do what they do for when drawing kid friendly version. Give her some damn shorts underneath. But the new52 is an abomination. You'd be seeing genitals in real life.

This. My favourite version of the costume bar none:

It just wouldn't be Supergirl without the skirt.

I really hope they actually do a proper origin story where she meets Superman like in the comics if they ever put her in the new films.

I was hoping it turn out she was still aboard that scout ship in suspended animation only to awaken after Kal-El wrecked her ride...:cwink:

There's always the 70's hotpants look.

My fav too. But it wouldn't work in the new film. Since they've removed Supes' trunk, in the new film, Supergirl will be dressed in a one piece swimsuit outfitted with a red cape.

It´s gonna be difficult to take her seriously with a skirt like that. Too short and too provocative.

I can take her seriously just fine, but it wouldn't really fit the Snyderverse, I suppose.

Maybe it's because I like the series so much, but I like the current DCTV Supergirl costume. Except for some minor color change and tone, it's almost exactly like Slater's Supergirl suit.

And yes, the skirt is short, but it's modern and the boots make the difference by closing the gap from below. It really is a nice blend of feminine grace and strength. Plus, no high heels!

It's also a lot better than the Smallville Supergirl suit too. And as we've seen from clips, she does wear a pair of 'cheerleader' shorts under that skirt.

I'd start her off in regular Kryptonian suit, same as Superman's, but somewhere in the film, have her see a skirt for the first time, and in the final scene have her in an updated costume with the skirt.
