300 2 - If they were to consider
Xerxes the sequel I guess... but to call it 300 2? Wasn't it based on a reality where like, all 300 died? Err 299/300 died?
Alvin And The Chipmunks: Chip-Wrecked, Despicable Me 2, Fred: The Movie 2, Happy Feet 2, How To Train Your Dragon 2, Ice Age: Continental Drift, Kung Fu Panda 3, Madagascar 3, Monsters University, Who Framed Roger Rabbit 2, Spy Kids 4: All The Time In The World - Who cares? Little kids like these movies. Go ahead and make more of these, I really don't care. Just as long as they don't release a dozen animated films in 2-3 months like they just did.
The Amazing Spider-Man 2 - Riiiight. So I guess we'll be set for a third re-boot in 2018? Give it a rest already.
American Pie 4 - There is something about the character of
Jim played by Jason Biggs that I don't like and really do not want to see ever again. Maybe they can kill him off in the opening scene and call it American Funeral.
Anchorman 2 - the first one was good for a few laughs but no where near being the monumental earth shattering comedic masterpiece some have claimed it to be. I have no opinion towards a movie like this getting a sequel. It's looks relatively cheap to make, draws a good box office, and does provide some cheap laughs. That said, I'd rather see a Talladega Nights 2 than this.
Avatar 2 and 3 - I wasn't overly interested in seeing the first one BUT I had a feeling it was going to be pretty big so my leader-ego compelled me to go see it the first day it was in theaters at around 11:00 am. The 3-D and special effects were great and after seeing it on cable television without the 3-D, the rest isn't bad either. Still, I think this series may go down as the the ultimate downfall of the movie industry. A man can only handle so many 9 foot tall blue bastards.
Bad Boys 3 - I still haven't seen the first two and this does nothing to make me want to either. Come to think of it, I don't like any movies where Martin Lawrence is a police officer. Come to think of it, I don't like any Martin Lawrence movies - period.
Bad Santa 2 - there's something about a drunk belligerent Santa Claus the warms the holiday spirit up every time like a glass of 80 proof egg nog.
Beverly Hills Cop 4 - 'crickets chirping' is all I can say about this one.
Bill &Ted 3 - Surprisingly, I don't think I've heard anyone opposed to this idea.
The Bourne Legacy - I'm not sure I like this idea. A Bourne movie without
Jason Bourne? Isn't that like a Rambo movie without
John Rambo? Prior to the internet, how would people have reacted if they went to see a Rambo movie in the early 1990's and Rambo was no where in it? I'll tell you how they'd have reacted - they'd have been asking for their money back or at least sorely angered with the movie industry. It makes no difference if people know ahead of time. Even if no one is saying it, the people want their money back and they will be mighty irritated by the film industry.
Captain America 2 - the sequels and comic book adaptations are getting insane. Peoples brains cannot handle this. I think, if things are to go on like this, the movie theater concept needs to be revamped.
Why put movie theaters in malls? Put the mall in the movie theater. DC section, Marvel section, Star Wars section, etc.. It'd probably have to be a massively large building though, bigger than Wal-Mart even. I think it's necessary though because I think motion pictures are playing a vital role in the functioning of this planet. In short - I think it may be what ultimately gives a planet rings. That or they put us on a COLLISION COURSE WITH OURSELVES!
The Chronicles Of Narnia: The Magician’s Nephew - Meh, kid movie - I don't care. But I don't EVER want to see another Harry Potter-like genre phenomena of 8 movies in 10 years ever again.
Chronicles Of Riddick 3 - I hope so. I want to see this series as a whole but there are always issues in just trying to see the first two. First of which is - not everyone knows Pitch Black exists, let alone that it is the predecessor to Chronicles Of Riddick.
Cloverfield 2
Conan The Barbarian 2 - It looks like the people who made that Twilight series watched the original Conan. I don't like that Twilight series.
Die Hard 5 and 6 - 5
and 6??? Let's hope they go back the R-Rating. People still aren't sick of the
John McClane saga though.
Eastern Promises 2
Enchanted 2
Evil Dead 4 - Would it even seem like an Evil Dead movie with the heavy dose of the special effects of today? That said, a lot of people still want to see this.
The Expendables 2 - Why wouldn't there be a sequel? An 80's like action movie with Stallone, Schwarzenegger, and Willis wouldn't be an 80's like action movie with Stallone, Schwarzenegger, and Willis if there wasn't a sequel.
Fast & Furious 6 - Hard to believe there's already five of these. It'll be even harder to believe when there is five more. Is this series too fast and furious to be stopped and will it go on forever?
The Fighter 2 - It looks like the sequel bug has finally made it's way into the best picture nominees. And the 2025 Best Picture goes to... Fast & Furious 12.
Final Destination 5 - there's really no other horror franchise that is ongoing and hasn't it pretty much been a constant for the last 30 years that there always is?
Ghostbusters III - There will be little opposition from fans for a new Ghostbusters movie. They will, however, oppose any suggestions for new recruits they do not approve of.
Ghost Rider: Spirit Of Vengeance - are three film deals becoming mandatory for any super-hero series at this point?
G.I. Joe 2 - Is the director of Step Up and Never Say Never really the guy to helm this? I think they should just wait five years and send it back to re-boot camp.
Green Lantern 2 - Most people like the Green Lantern. He's arguably the most solid option to Superman, Batman, and Wonder Woman. Also, the trailers look decent. It also looks like it really could win the summer movie wars with it's closest competition looking like Transformers 3, Super 8, and X-Men: First-Class but why do I see it not doing as good as expected? Oh yeah, I think this may be the summer where a kids movie Cars 2 wins the top box office draw. Then again, Transformers 3 would have to take a mighty steep downfall even for no one wanting to see it. Still, I think this looks more than good enough for a sequel.
Hanna 2 - Another movie I have no idea as to what it is. Is this a Hanna Montana movie sequel?
Hostel: Part III - Why bother with a sequel, just call it
Blood Bath 2012.
Indiana Jones 5 - I don't know. Indiana Jones is married now and there's also that Mutt character to deal with. I guess, if people want to know what Indiana Jones would have become if he'd married Marion after the first one and had a kid.
Iron Man 3 - People are really going to get confused as hell by putting The Avengers before the Iron Man 3.
James Bond 23 - Maybe if people stop making James Bond movies all other sequels will stop too.
Johnny English Reborn - It looks harmless enough and far enough out of the limelight that it's not much of an issue if it happens.
Jurassic Park 4 - They speak of this as the start to a new trilogy. Why do I think it would be something like
Jurassic World and not simply limited to one island or park? I'd hate to wake up one morning, and while drinking my coffee I find out this went extreme viral as I see a raptor outside my window eating the neighbors kids.
The Karate Kid 2 - I'm not a fan of remakes unless the first one was done badly or can blatantly be seen as being able to be improved upon. Neither was the case with the original 80's Karate Kid.
Knocked Up sequel/spin-off - It's a sequel, but it's not. That's cool, maybe the new way to go at this point. Just keep spinning off and off and off...
Mad Max: Fury Road - This would be so fitting if Mel Gibson were returning to play Mad Max one last time, but it does sound like that will not be the case. That being the said, it almost sounds more like it should be a re-boot than a sequel. Either way, a post-apocalyptic world surrounding a guy named Mad Max is always worth a watch.
Major League 4 - Both 1 and 2 were great but they lost most everyone with the direct-to-video 3rd installment. Would anyone watch, let alone buy a direct-to-video 4th chapter? Now if it goes to the big screen - that might bring some people back.
Men In Black III - Yay for time travel but Back to the Future this is not.
Mission: Impossible – Ghost Protocol - These are some odd-ducks of movies and like the Bourne movies, I just can't get into them. But, at least there is no number on the end and at least Ghost Protocol sounds cool.
Monsters 2 - I remember seeing something about the first one but forgot about it. Looked interesting then and looks interesting now.
New Year’s Eve - a sequel to Valentine's Day? DISQUALIFIED!
Out Of Sight 2 - I didn't realize that nearly 15 years later people were clamoring for a sequel to the first one that nobody saw.
Paranormal Activity 3 - Say what you will about these movies, I think they put some good spin on the horror film genre amongst a few other areas as well.
Percy Jackson 2 - Pffft, I don't care about 'Percy Jackson' and I'm not a fan of seeing peoples names in my face.
Pineapple Express 2 - Pineapple is good, and having a crazy adventure while under the influence of marijuana seems like a good idea at the time but...
Piranha 3DD - Super, let's make the kids of today fear fish even more.
Pirates Of The Caribbean 5 - Like the Bourne series and Mission Impossible's I am incapable of watching these. I think, it is because I cannot ever find them in order and WITHOUT COMMERCIALS!
Predators 2 - It sure was good to hear swearing like that amidst violence like that again.
RED 2 - Too much of a creepy old hipster vibe coming of that first movie. I'm steering clear of this for now.
Resident Evil 5 - It is just about the best thing going for video game movie adaptations. Will the movies surpass the games in terms of number of installments though? Rather odd dynamic occurring here.
The Ring 3D - Why not just remake everything ever made and put it into 3D?
Salt 2
Scream 5 and 6 - I'm really speechless at this point.
Sex & The City 3 -
...
Sherlock Holmes: A Game Of Shadows - I think
Sherlock was a little too light in his loafers for my liking.
Silent Hill: Revelation 3D - The first one was good, maybe the best video game adaptation yet.
Sin City 2 - How could anyone scoff at the idea of another movie with those types of characters, in those types of situations, filmed in that manner?
Star Trek - Surprised it hasn't happened already. Probably a good thing though. One would think with this being the 12th installment that people would be as sick of this as other super-sequelized franchises but that is not the case. It seems it has managed to stay under the radar for 30+ years.
Step Up 4Ever
The Strangers 2 - The first one was a surprise for me, why call the sequel The Strangers 2 though?
Taken 2 - At least there nipping this in the bud now and saying this will be the only sequel.
Terminator 5 - With the original Terminator reportedly coming back, how can this not be enticing to moviegoers?
Thor 2 - This comic book super-hero madness is absolutely insane.
Tintin: Prisoners Of The Sun - I have no idea what this is.
Top Gun 2 - Ah yes, the ole passing-the-torch story comes into play again. Didn't they do this already in the 1980's though with Iron Eagle?
Trainspotting 2 - Relapse?
The Transporter 4
True Lies 2 - I think the only True Lies happening here are in regards to this coming to be.
Tron 3 - Who'd have thought that Tron would be getting sequels nearly 30 years later?
Twilight: Breaking Dawn - These just aren't my kind of movies. I don't care what they do with it.
Underworld 4 - WHEN WILL THIS STOP!?!
A Very Harold & Kumar Christmas - It's just not the same without White Castle. Maybe the hidden message is to celebrate Christmas with White Castle-Weed-and a White Christmas CD.
Wanted 2 - No one ever wanted 2 see the first one.
The Wolverine - Will people ever get tired of their favorite vengeful and murderous, mutated freak?
Wrath Of The Titans - Seemed a lot more could have been done with Clash of the Titans than was.
The X-Files 3 - The X-Files 2, while not bad, was not what the faithful fans of the series wanted. They wanted the aliens, they wanted the conspiracy, they wanted the smoking-man. They may still get their wish.
X-Men 4 - Not sure this can happen with X-Men: First Class and other character movies(Wolverine, Magneto, Deadpool, etc.) still in the works.
X-Men: First Class 2 - To me, it's starting to look like a very clever re-boot to the whole X-Men series and it's one that may actually fix this comic-book super-hero madness once and for all.
xXx 3 - With Riddick and Fast & Furious do we really need another Diesel sequel?
Zombieland 2 - What's this world coming too? Oh yeah - Zombiepocalypse.
Zoolander 2 - What is this world coming too? Oh yeah - Zoolander, Zeus, and the
Zombiepocalypse - Zzz...
Sure, there might be a little too many sequels and remakes these days, but as long as there are people willing to pay to see them Hollywood will continue to make them.
I don't know. I think the problem may not be the number of sequels, it may be that we need something new to harness all this. It almost seems like it might be getting to be too much for theater's, television, and basic video libraries. That, or 'the house of cards' will fall.
