I am in the process of making a quilt for my niece, who will be born in February. She and her mother are struggling quite a bit at the moment, so I thought a superhero theme would be approppriate since they're fighting so hard. I just need the Hype's comic book wisdom to get started.

Which female superheros should I use? I need seven. Right now I'm considering Wonder Woman, Invisible Woman, Jean Grey, Batgirl, Pyslocke, Supergirl, and Rogue. I'd like a mix of both DC and Marvel. More color is better since I'll be tranfering the images onto a white background (hence, the reason I didn't choose Storm, I don't think her hair would work :(). I also thought about photoshopping a cape onto a pic of the mom and using her as one of the superheroines.

Also, I'd prefer traditional-looking images (something like Batgirl, below), but I'm having trouble finding pictures that aren't fan art. I might be out of luck there, since they weren't originally drawn to the scale I need. The blocks I'll be putting these images on are about 6in x 6in I think. Of course, if I had pics of each heroine from a single fanartist source, that could work. Ideas?

Thanks for your suggestions!:woot::meow::dew::heart:

Isn't Batgirl a lesbian, now?

make some crazy MC esher-esque pattern with all the logos!

Why limit it to just super heroines? Why not include some female super villains for them to fight as well?

I have no idea if Batgirl went lez, but I think she's called Oracle now. I'm open to any ideas. I do like Poison Ivy and Harley Quinn. Maybe I can make every panel a super-character, instead of every other one.

nothing says lez like calling yourself oracle

Haha, no kidding, Spoons. She's already banned from the list.

Ronny's got a point. :o

Anyway, there are a ton of great female villains:

Cheetah
Morgaine Le Fay
Emma Frost
Callisto
Killer Frost
Lady Deathstrike
Scarlet Witch
Enchantress
Mystique
Medusa
Catwoman
Songbird

Do some Googling or search on Wikipedia and I bet you'll find more female heroes and villains.

Why are the villains always cooler than the heroes? :cmad:

Anyhoo, I've found plenty of lists and whatnot. I'm just looking for opinions on who's the "best."

Ms. Marvel (either the original or one of the more recent incarnations)
Spider-Woman (again there are many different incarnations to choose from)
Spider-Girl (might be more appropriate for a teenager)

and you could do Storm, just put a grey stormcloud behind her head and her hair will turn up fine

I think there's a Hawkgirl/Hawkwoman in the DC universe...

You could use Storm if you outline her hair in black where its against the white backround.

Spider-Girl and Spider-Woman.
Sounds like a great idea,I love quilts.
Post pics when your done.

Lurk, I'd go with dark t-shirt transfers. They're printable just like the other ones but FARRR more durable (take this from a lady who makes many of her own t-shirts... oftentimes with superheroes on them). They are more expensive but the results are worth it. The best part is that with some precision cutting out of the heroines you can really have a top notch looking "screen print" essentially. Target has HP Dark T-shirt transfers for about 9.99 which is cheaper than the ones at Walmart.

Another advantage is that the quilt doesn't have to be white. You can iron it on over black, or whatever other colors you want. Hiiiiighly recommended. Trust me on this one.

Light t-shirt transfers don't last as long and look kind of $hitty if you ask me.

As for the heroines, I would go with:

Wonder Woman
Batgirl
Black Canary
Supergirl
Hawkgirl

Jean Grey
Rogue
She Hulk
Invisible Woman
Storm

For some reason that made me laugh a lot more than I usually do when on the hype.

THANK YOU for the awesome tip!! It made a big difference.

The quilt is coming along nicely; I'll post pics when I'm done.

hahaha, I wonder if anyone's ever made a porn quilt.

 That's really weird, only because you're not the only person to want one.

I'm not kidding, this last weekend my husband told me I should make a porn quilt. Apparently there's a market for this.....:ninja:

i like your list as it is- i don't think a baby needs supervilains on her quilt. Rogue, storm and supergirl were my heroes when i was growing up
