So I bought a ring last week for my girlfriend of two years. We both live in Colorado, though she was raised near beaches since her father was in the Coast Guard.

She told me off hand about a year ago that when she was little she always thought it would be cool to find a message in a bottle floating in the ocean water. I knew right then that was how I was going to propose.

The only problem is, well, Colorado isn't near the ocean and I don't know if I can make my annual trek to California this summer since I bought the ring and am buying a condo.

I need backup ideas and quick because I'm excited to give it to her already.

Well, I'm not married myself, but one tip I've heard a lot is this: do not try the typical "ring in the wine glass" routine. Your girl seems to enjoy the water, so do the bottle trick, but in a quiet swimming pool instead...just a thought.
