Superman II Donner Cut VS Spider-man 2

Oh what the hey, one more movie fight couldn't hurt...

Here it is at last, the greatest movie fight ever. I found both movies to actually be very similar, especially the dream sequence in spidey 2 compared to Superman's interaction with Jor-el. In both movies, the father and uncle warn the hero to rethink their selfish desires. What surprised me was how it's like the dialogue written for reeve to speak was re-written for Peter to speak in his movie. I don't know how that could happen, but it's very interesting...

Anyway, since you asked, I chose the Donner Cut of Superman 2. :heart:

Spidey 2 was fun when I first saw it but unfortunately I just find raimi's style too over the top. Granted, Spidey doesn't spin the earth backwards with his super swinging to create this weird cop-out ending, but overall, I'd not only do I think the donner cut was better written, but comeon, it's got Christopher Reeve, Brando, and terrance Stamp... you can't top that.:heart: :heart:

I agree. I think the dialogue between Jor-El and Kal-El are more emotional. Espacially when he gets his powers back.

This isn't fair, because the original Superman 2 is probably better then spiderman 2, I haven't seen The donner cut yet, but I can only assume, Spiderman 2 is a fantastic movie, but it more then likely will stand no chance

Well they were pretty corny villains. Have to say that Non was the worst of the bunch though.

Doc Ock was more corny. Zod never has a speech like, "....and nothing will stand in our way! Nothing!"

When I saw that part at the cinema, I groaned out loud and thought, "Raimi, what are you doing?!"

Superman at his best can't even begin to approach touching the greatness of Spider-Man at his worst.

I think anyone who voted Superman needs to watch both movies again.

Superman 1 is good. But I dunno...compared to Spider-man 1+2....

Superman just doesn't match up.

I think I'm biased though, my whole room is covered in Spider-man stuff.

Impossible. Donner's two superman films are superior in every possible way to Raimi's spidey. End of discussion.

Music, John williams theme, best ever ever. I can't even remember spidey's theme.

Acting? pfft, easily goes to supes. One second of brando acting outclasses everyone in spidey's movies. And why does spidey sound like he's not hit puberty yet? wtf?

Opening credits? I'll give spidey the alex ross art opening... that was great but whatever.

Story? Superman's movies are EPICS, both of them. you can't say that about spidey's very how do I put this... corny? corny, yes corny story.

Directing? Ha ha ha ha. Donner captures performances filled with passion that don't seem cheesy or B-movie-ish like raimi. Thank zod.

^It's funny how people think oposite things sometimes (and that's not supposed to be a flame or anything). When I watched Superman 2 I couldn't stop rolling me eyes at some parts. It was completley corny to me.

Comparing donners superman films to any present comic book film is dumb. I like these films just as much as any comic fan but they dont hold up at all. Beyond terrible effects, campy, and full of plot holes. After watching both films I definitly prefer the lester cut. Donner's additions and subtractions just added more problems.

I'm sure to some people Superman is the greatest thing in the world. Everyone is entitled to their own opinion and I respect them for that.
