One of my favorite TV Shows of all time is Now and Again - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Now_and_Again - Sadly it was on air only for a single season.
When I saw Superman Returns, I loved it and I think it was partly because it was in the same vein as that series.
Later I found that both have a few things in common.
For example the characters:
Eric Close plays Michael Wiseman who's pretty much a Superhero. Like Superman, he can't get to be with the people he loves and although he does these amazing things, its still his family that is most important to him.
Dennis Haysbert's Dr. Theodore Morris is a lot like Jor-El - The voice of reason and the one who controls Michael and holds him back, yet guides him at the same time.
Even the look and feel of the two are alike, in the sense that both of them have very warm colors and a timeless feel.
Most striking of all was when Jason plays the piano.... that tune was signature to the series as Michael would play it in the show as well.
All in all, both have fantastical concepts, yet are grounded in a real and emotional world based on relationships. And I really love that.
This is just what I think.
Cheers,
Rohit
