Superman Returns Superman Returns Running Time Confirmed!

all I'm hoping for is that it's longer that 90 minutes... that just aint gonna cut it for Superman's Retrurn to the big screen

90 minutes was never an option hehhhehe :D. this movie will be longer than 2 hours. the question now is how much longer.

okay i am really sick of this wah wah about running time of films and it beeing too long for "the general public" what bull**** as way back when films were seen as double features or longer so it is not as it has always been or anything and if a film is paced properly it wont feel long

king kong had pacing problems so it dragged a bit

but films like harry potter 3 or 4 that were very fast and well paced felt like they could be 30 min longer so yeah if superman is gonna be almost three hours it should be because singer has always paced his films very well so yeah

screw the "general public" cause the "general public" isnt gonna know the film is long ahead of time so it won't stop them from going and it is a freaking superman movie with a $300? million dollar budget so i dont think they will be bored

While I was watching Thursday's episode of Attack of the Show! (on G4), they had a segment on summer movies: what will rule the box office and what will not? Well, one of the people they asked (Nick Nunziata) told them that "Superman Returns will do good" because his friend has seen a (get this) 2 hour, 51 minute cut of the movie! (Damn, that's a long movie!) But they said that it could be shortened down to just 2hours, 15 minutes. But still, that's pretty long. I can't get a video link from G4Tv.com, but if anybody finds it, post it here. And you can go g4tv.com, go to the AOTS section, and click on "The Loop: Summer Movie Preview" to read a little about it.

I hope the 2hours, 51 minutes time is the one!!!

What did they say about x-men?
Adam and Kevin said they and everyone else had "very low expectations" on the E3 specials
I would like to know who everyone else is?

They said go to the X men boards and ask someone there.

If i could show you my hands, you'd only see one finger.
Since this guy saw AOTC on thursday, i was wondering what they said.
Why don't you just answer my damn question and don't give me a smartass answer.

I answerd your question..you have a X men question go to that board..i don't go to the FF boards to ask what the bond footge is like..now considering you are being rude.

your a battlestar fan? cool you will understand this. ..frak off and don't try to smart ass me..

I'm not the one being a smartass.
How do I know anyone even saw the show. Not many people have G4, or even know it exist, at least not in my area.

Singer said that he would not release a new DVD with cutscnes he said he is gonna release the final movie with no changes, he said this at Comic Con.

2 hours 15 or 2 Hours 51 is good!

singer said a lot of things. and some were not true ;)

What people forget is the longer the running time, the less showings per day = less BO.

I'm hoping for a little over 2 hours. Extended cut = DVD.

Why not make it go on for forever? I would.
Anyway... 2h and 51mins is not bad, actually make me happy.
Makes it look like there will be some character development.

^ Considering that there aren't that many characters, you do not need that kind of running time. You would if this were X3 tho.

not even gonna bother....

I don't know how much I buy this. To cut out....35 minutes of the film would be fairly hard.
How do you know?

You'd be surprised how trimming down a film can add up to a big cut.

Chris Gore said all this, not nick. nick is not a fan of singer and doesn't have much faith in the film. gore said he knows two people who have seen a 2hr 50min cut and said the film is probably going to get cut down to around 2hr 15min. He said from what he has heard that the movie is going to be amazing and praised the plane sequence.

Great, ANOTHER Superman film with TONS of deleted material and a near 3-hour cut. I swear, it's the same way for STM and S2. 20 extra minutes for S3 and 45 deleted minutes for S4!

Whatever happens, we'd BETTER get all the footage on the DVD in a special extended cut!

Whatever they decide to do, I want the longer cut on DVD. Even if this movie is long and doesn't make much in theatres, you still must account for toys, games, DVDs, TV rights and other product tie-ins. That's how The Hulk broke even / made a little profit

some people are saying that titanic was long and it make huge BO. i am saying that this movie is not like spiderman because it is not everything new.

people wont think that it is something so special to be 3 hours in teh cinema.

i am hoping for 2:50

x2 totally agree....people wanna whine well they paid they can get up and leave then more room for me... plus it still helps the box office #'s out but really i dont wanna have to wait for the dvd to see all the missed scenes i wanna see them on the big screen like they were intended to be scene

please please don´t cut it that much!! they already said that a major scene had to be cut, but then ottman said that it´s going to be on the dvd anyway, he also mentioned that he written a piece for that scene so he was kinda unhappy to throw away lot of work, but then got confirmation about being on the dvd.

Chris Gore doesn't really work for G4. They were having a panel discussion on summer movies. So it really wasn't the opinions of G4 and Chris Gore knows his stuff in my opinion. And he knows lots of people within the industry so I take his word for it. And he was a pretty cool guy when I met him in Vegas.

People, it's not the length--it's the pacing. If this thing movies at a supersonic pace, 2 1/2 hours isn't going to feel like 2 1/2 hours. However if the story is stretched thin and the pacing is shot, it could be 90 minutes long and still feel like it takes forever.

Movie length is honestly neither here nor there. You pace a movie correctly with an engrossing enough story, people won't notice how long they've been sitting down. That's the trick.

Can Singer and Ottman pace this movie out so that you don't notice 2 1/2 hours has gone by. That's the question. Whether it's 2 or 3 hours isn't. Is the content inside easily spread around that 3 hours so that you never feel the movie dragging? That's the question.

And trimming a movie sometimes is BEST for a movie, by the way. Just because this thing is reportedly going from 2:51 to 2:15 or whatever (seems convienient the numbers simply got flipped) doesn't mean the movie is going to SUFFER for it. Less can be more as far as content goes. Again, it all comes back to pacing.

My friend is working post on the film--He mentioned that its like 2 hours 30 min and really should be cut down--he said it's too long. Just his opinion I guess
