If the trailer popped up an hour from now or in two weeks, it wouldn't make a damn bit of difference because Superman will be everywhere this time next month. And whether or not your a$$ will be in a seat June 30th. You already know if your seeing it or not.
I WANT MORE FOOTAGE!!!!!!!!!

Why?
Simple. Us fanboys are always waaaaay ahead of Joe Public on movie info news. If there was a knowledge ratio, we'd be about 1000:1 in comparison to what they know. However, if there was a ratio of quantities of fanboys to Joe Publics, the ratio would be quite, quite different. So we're not who WB is targetting. We instead get on the internet and start websites and fanforums around whatever it is we've set our geek radar on. And when we do this, the special Joe Public who is more in between the average Joe and us fanboys -- the guy who does have the internet but uses it a bit better than average people -- will come across the site and may be converted to a full-fledged fanboy.
More potential ticket-buyers right there.
Meanwhile, us fanboys make it a habit to educate the ignorant Joe Public of the new Superman Returns movie, whether it be casual mention or a deep conversation.
WB scores some free publicity.
Secondly and more importantly I think, when WB does release a trailer, the average Joe will see it and AT THAT point, their excitement will most likely be piqued. They'll start seeing commercials and Burger King cups and Monopoly games and suddenly they'll be like us. People love big event movies and this one will certainly be advertised as one.
Us fanboys do not need constant footage and ads and promos to keep our excitement up. Yes, we THINK we need it because like a junkie needs drugs, but we will always have the anticipation...and it will never die.
Suddenly people will be like us; THEY'LL WANT TO SEE THE DAMN MOVIE! They're given NO time to get tired of the hype or the constant barrage of advertising yet and all they can see, hear, and feel is...SUPERMAN RETURNS. And when the movie is released finally, their 'high' will not have abated yet and they'll lug the whole fam over to the nearest theater, spend life savings on concessions, and watch a man fly...again.
I say "again" because the men with families know Superman, either from reading comics or at the least, the wonderful '78 Donner film. And they'll want to take their kids so they too can watch a man fly.
I think this advertising can help make SR a tremendous success, and it's using our own excitement to do that.

Jlandsw said:First of all, its not my timetable. Second, I WANT MORE FOOTAGE!!!!!!!!! A one minute teaser trailer is not enough for me. I want a 2-3 minute trailer that explains the plot of the movie without giving too much away. And I think I speak for just about everyone on this board on that.

Dark Knight said:Exactly.....the only reason i come to this Superman every now and then is to see if any supposed insiders have any legitimate info on new footage or the trailer. There hasn't been squat! And it's ridiculous actually....like I said before....Singer and WB's are trying way to hard to keep the plot under the bag......give me a break.![]()
Dark Knight said:actually a lot of the general public don't know there is a new Superman movie coming out......so they should have shown a TV spot here or there...or at least shown new footage by now. The playing with the public thing..is not really a smart idea.
kirbyfan said:Nivek you're joking right? The x-men 3 trailer plays every 30 minutes at Blockbuster so I think people know.
Looking at all the pics and the short teaser makes me wonder where is the action going to come from in this movie?? There's really no villian for Superman to fight, so what's he going to do, save a bunch of people from falling cars and that sort of thing.
So far I've heard or seen nothing that gets me excited to see this movie!!
)He really needs to punch someone for it to be worth it.kirbyfan said:Nivek you're joking right? The x-men 3 trailer plays every 30 minutes at Blockbuster so I think people know.

Naite22 said:I can not believe that you guys are still discussing the fact that there's no SUPER-villain for superman to fight! Let me make something clear for you guys! This film is SUPERMAN RETURNS, ok... The granddad of all superhero's and he's returning to the big screen for the first time in 20 years! this epic picture is about SUPERMAN! NOT the super-villains that he'll DEFINITLY fight in the sequels.. The very best superhero movie of ALL time is STILL the very first superman.. nothing can touch it, not even today! Did superman have any supervillains to battle in STM??? Nope! And did the movie work!?... Ohh YES! It works better than any other superhero movie to date! The new movie is about Kal-El, it's about HIM... Lex & his henchmen is MORE then enough trouble for supes to battle.

It satifies me to no end that everyone can ONLY pick apart things like the suit, and the kid because we don't have a script leak or a spoiler heavy trailer......I love watching people wig out when they can't have it all 'NOW'.![]()
