Supernatural-Season 7. - Part 2

Who's to say some folks might not get pulled out with dean. Just like with cas. Plus we don't know how much time from start of premire dean will get out. Maybe he can be there for part/half of episode. As for time passed on earth my guess a few months to a yr like we seen other seasons do.

Showing Dean in Purgatory won't be nearly as costly as it would be to have shown Dean in Hell. From the last scene in the finale, they pretty much represented it as not looking that different from our world.

And I think we're taking "the brothers will reunite quickly" too literally. I really don't think it'll be like it was with the beginning of season four.

Well showing Purgatory itself won't cost a thing. Showing so many monsters is another thing though. I could see why the budget would be a problem with that. I just want to see some souls escaping with Dean and Castiel.

Ya making purgatory a forest isn't likely the problem as anno said it cgi monsters and what that that would be more costly. U can get away with it for a few seconds where it doesn't cost much. But trying to pull that off for a few episodes could be a drag on there budget.

I think the brothers reuniting quickly means the brothers are going to reunite quickly. :cwink:

Okay.

But "quickly" could mean the first five minutes or it could mean by the end of the first episode. It's obvious that this isn't going to be some multi-episode arc, but that doesn't necessarily mean that it will just be swept under the rug.

Well it could still mean in first episode, but to be different then hell and sam, would be nice if dean is in there for most of episode. Hell they could play it we only see him in purgatory let's say for three scenes and spread over most of episode. And more on sam trying to get him out.

Why would thy be CGI? When they have done monster make-up on the show, like the wraith, siren, changelings those were all practical make-up.

Well yeah, but Singer talking about how much time has passed and them being reunited quickly after that time has passed suggests to me that they'll be back together at the start of the season premiere. Of course, that time could pass over the course of the episode, but I'm leaning towards the other option.

The monsters in purgatory are in their true form so they won't be the same as their form on earth. And if you look in the S7 finale all the monsters surrounding Dean were done with cgi. They would need to continue this next season and that cgi would take a chunk out of their budget.

Just open the episode with Dean walking through the forest of Purgatory, battered and bruised, covered in blood and wearing the fur of all the beasts he's slain while he's been there. Establish the kind of monsters he's had to fight without dropping a ****ton of money on it.

Not really, it was a couple of blurry shadows in the background and some red eyes in the darkness, they aren't beholden to any look, therefore they could go practical like they've done before.

You can clearly see they are not humanoid shape. Nothing blurry about it.

Are you watching on a standard definition TV? In HD I could clearly tell they werent humanoid.

I've seen it in 720p, and it's just four red eyes and some blurry shadows running. Now those running shadows most likely were CGI, but again you don't see anything, there's no specific look for them to be stuck with.

yeah, they didn't look humanoid, I had no problem making out their overall form.

sawyer that would be a cool idea to do. So we can see the fight dean had, without having to actually see it happen.

And again they were in the shadows, there's no reason why they would have to be CGI because of a few seconds at the end of the finale.

Well the whole point is as we pointed out in purgatory they the monsters are in true non human forms. So just picture if they had dean be stuck in purgatory for 3 or so episodes. And at least given 4 or so scenes per episode and around a total of 5-15mins per episode screen time. Showing dean being chased/attacked/fighting non humaniod monsters does get pretty costly. When they like sv probably only rocking 2mill per episode. And that budget accounts for every aspect of production of a episode.

I thought the whole point was they had to be CGI, while I believed that they wouldn't. Practical make-up and lighting can go a long way.

True but that the thing we don't know what they would be doing.

Which ever way they go, I don't care, as long as it looks good.

I prefer physical effects over digital, but I expect them to do a mix. Digital for distance (like in the finale) and practical up close. Wouldn't be surprised if they go all digital, though.
