New season of Survivor has started.

They are doing another Brain/Beauty/Brawn season. I personally find this premise silly since there are clearly people on each tribe who don't fit their respective description at all. It just feels like they pasted on the theme after they were done with the casting.

So far I´m not sure what tribe I´m rooting for. I can usually make up my mind pretty quickly but this time there where people on each tribe that annoyed me.

I was sort of surprised at who the losing tribe decided to vote out, I thought for sure they would go for the other person.

I want that bald Vietnamese guy gone . . . he is really creepy! And yes, it did seem that he tried to kiss that other bloke.

I don't think Blondie will last much longer but I would like her to hang around and join up with the rest of the beauties; and the older lady who said she could always make fire seems to be not long for survival.

Yeah, that older lady seemed like she was all talk and no action. Normally she would be an easy first out vote but the tribe also has a 71 year old. Though I have to say that I can only hope to be as fit as he when I turn 71.

Blondie was completely useless. Its hard to believe that she would just stand at the puzzle and not even pick up pieces even if only to look like she was trying :whatever:

I'm so glad you started this thread. I was going to if you hadn't.

Anyway, great premiere. I love 90 minute episodes; I wish every episode could be until the post-merge. We had so much drama, and confessionals from everyone. The editing already feels so much better than Cambodia's.

The bug crawling in Jennifer's ear was so terrifying I could hardly watch and kept cringing in sympathy. Watching all the medical crises pop up this season will be brutal, I can tell.

Pity we lost Darnell since he was so funny. Tai is my favorite though that forced kiss next week will be a buzzkill. Jason is just awful and needs to be eliminated immediately.

I can't believe the medical staff wouldn't help out if someone had a damn bug burrowed inside their head! Do they have to be literally passed out before the medical will step in? I was disappointed that no team tried the dexterity option of the challenge, but cool to see them changing things up. I always expect the Beauty tribe to be the weakest in challenges. Last time around they were surprisingly strong, but this time they're off to a slow start, especially considering they had a big lead in the challenge and nearly lost anyway.

From what I've heard, the medical staff were called out but they did know what to do about it so Jennifer just chose to wait it out.

I swear my ears started itching when they showed the segment with the worm. I lost it when they showed and talked about the blood. What a nightmare!

I wonder if there was more to it that they didn't show? I just can't believe that they kept Miss Mental Giant over Danrnell. WTF.

I can't wait to see which poor girl Caleb will obsess over. :o

Darnell really screwed up in two ways in the challenge. First he lost the mask and then he just gave up and made someone else have to dive down with out a mask. You could maybe forgive the first but the second really showed his character and was imo completely unforgivable.

And yeah, the bug in the ear was really gross. I really doubt that I would have handled it as well as she did.

I just don't think it was good strategy to get rid of Darnell. They need to keep him around for the strength for now. I can understand sometimes there are some personalities that are SO difficult to get along with, that even early in the game and if they're strong, they're just so insufferable everyone wants them gone, but I didn't see any scenes with Darnell that made him out to be at that level of horrible. Sure, he messed up in that challenge but everyone does stupid stuff at least once. Are they going to vote out just based on who screwed up, b/c then they very could well lose a great asset next time they lose a challenge. Blondie brought nothing to the table: no strength, didn't help push the boat, didn't help dive, gave up on the puzzle - so she's useless with puzzles. Furthermore, the big basketball player guy knew that she was a "schemer" -- and those types are always risky to keep around if they're obviously scheming so early in the game. Sure, everyone should be "scheming" from the get-go -- that's good play; but should be subtle about it. If she's that blatant now, that's not a good sign. Meanwhile, Darnell didn't seem to be much of a threat as a "strategic" player AND during the tribal council discussion there's a good chance he had become scared enough that he really would have been much more motivated if they had decided to keep him. Just no reason to keep her and get rid of Darnell at this point.

If voting off Darnell comes back to bite them on the a** -- ie they lose a challenge b/c of strength -- I'm going to really be laughing and think how they totally brought that on themselves!

WTF was that, Jen??? *shakes head*

Talk about an impressive self sabotage.

lol, most of the time I can tell who's getting voted off, but this one, wow, everything turned around on her.

I figured Blondie might be the one to give stuff away in Tribal, but Jen... Damn!

In an interview Jennifer claimed that Jason and Scot already knew about her betrayal because Cydney and Alecia snitched on her, so her tribal council isn't as epic as it was made out to be, though it was still excellent. Anyway, spectacular episode, already miles better than Cambodia. This cast has really shined. Survivor is always at its best when it focuses on interpersonal conflict.

It really is amazing how some people can shoot themselves in the foot while putting it in their mouth :)

I really hope that next week one of the other tribes lose the immunity challenge, I'd really like to know how things are shaping up there.

Ok, that was a satisfying vote out :) Only thing that would have made it better is if it had been Peter who got the axe. Those two were insufferable to listen to and totally had it coming to them.

Debbie, while still annoying, showed that she knows the game and can really read people well and play the game.

I'm actually starting to suspect that Debbie's "annoyingness" is somehow an act. It certainly got the two "smart ones" to think she knew nothing of strategy and were already planning on keeping her since she'd be an "easy out."

At least I hope so. Because if she's really like that in real life, I can't help but want to strangle her.

It tells you how great this season's been when the worst episode so far has still been really good. I went from seething with rage that Jason discovered the idol* to joy when I learned that arrogant Peter and Liz were going to be on the chopping block. Tai's guilt over helping to kill the chicken was so moving. I suspect I'd act the same way in a similar situation.

I don't think my heart will be able to take next week's medevac. I hope it's not a contestant I like.

*What is it with Survivor and superidols? The audience never likes them.

The superidol this season is at least a bit more interesting than in previous seasons. You have to find two idols to make it work and your forced to chose whether to wait until after the votes are read and use the thing once or play one half now and the other at the next tribal...

So if the right circumstances come up it could be really interesting. Of course if it ends up in the hands of someone who thinks he/she is completely safe then it will only be used to stop a blindside.

My favorite is when Debbie started saying that she's being stealthy and just observing, etc. and I thought like most cases, it would lead to them showing scenes of just how clueless she is but instead they pleasantly surprised us and backed up her observations with showing that what's she's saying is exactly happening. So, yeah, I think it's an act and she's a great observer.

I'd love to see and Tai at the merge. It should be an interesting dynamic. :hehe:

I'm not sure though if taking out Liz over Fauxbama is better. The latter strikes me as someone who will cause more trouble. We'll see.

Next week looks intense and scary!

I think someone commented during the episode that they needed Peter for the challenges, so that's why he stuck around.

The Brain tribe has delivered on both seasons so far. Survivor needs to do an all Brains season.

I think the logic in keeping Peter around is that he's less likely to be able to form a new alliance after a swap because people will see him as a physical threat and want to vote him out, plus he's more of a condescending jerk which will further make people want to vote him out.

Too bad Blondie blabbed about finding the idol clue, but then she probably wasn't going to be able to get the idol on her own anyway. And now Jason has earned being the recipient of all of my hate!

What the F is going on!? Everyone is dropping from heat exhaustion!

Scot played in the NBA! He knows what being on a team is like. :whatever:

So Joe the retired FBI agent realized Debbie needed medic help and called Jeff over. And Peter the ER doc didn't pick up on that?
