    Happy Independence Day, Guest!

Survivor: Kaoh Rong

Sad to see a good season end with such an underwhelming winner. This was pretty clearly a case of Scott and Jason being ******** that they lost so voting for the person most insulated from that.

Yeah I don't get it myself, I figured Aubrey would kill it in the finals

I thought Aubrey was going to sweep the votes. I think it was Scott's speech at the end that swayed the votes.

Next, Millenials vs Gen X

I hope Gen Xers win. I'm sure Millenials will go in there thinking they should all gete participation immunity idols and they deserve the 1 million before jumping off the boat. lol

While I think Aubrey deserved the win more than Tai or Michelle, I'm fine with Michelle winning. Her game play wasn't as strategic as Aubrey's but she didn't alienate anyone, was in with the right alliances at the right time and won challenges when it mattered most.

All that being said, the final reward challenge of throwing someone off the jury is complete and utter bull****. Jury members have earned the right to be there and to help determine the ultimate survivor. Neil leaving was a catastrophic blow to Aubrey since he did hold some sway in Ponderosa and could have countered some of the nonsense that Scot was prattling on about.

This was a good (not great) season that will be remembered more for the voted out juror than the underwhelming winner.

As did I. Dalton Ross summed up the jury's mistake well:

Aubry was the most deserving player. Granted, she was saved by it being a final three and was even saved just getting to the final three thanks to a questionable decision by Tai to force a fire-making tiebreaker challenge (we’ll get into the pros and cons of that controversial decision later), but she was still the clear choice to win. She was solid in challenges, where I was especially impressed with her performance in water-based contests. She had a very strong feel for the game, knowing that Julia was double-dealing and cozying up to the men and having the social skills to pull Tai back over to her side not once, but twice. Like I said, the clear choice.

But not to the jury. They saw something in Michele. Maybe it was the fact that she won the final two challenges. That’s legitimate. When you step up and finish strong like that, it can go a long way. And it absolutely should be part of the formula toward determining a winner. Michele also seems like a lovely lady. Perfectly pleasant and nice. But I still can’t for the life of me think of one single move she made or even influenced in any way. I have been trying, and I just can’t. I’m not going to sit her and bash the woman, but I do think the jury totally missed on this one. I’m not saying Aubry was Kim Spradlin out there, but she did control the votes on most of the eliminations and did flip Tai. I thought it was clear, but I thought wrong.

I just watched the Ponderosa video with Cydney and it solidified my dislike for Scot and Jason. They're like children who got told "no" by a parent. I expected a little better of Julia and can almost excuse it because she is young and immature. It's a shame for her because her behavior at Ponderosa was undoubtedly influenced by the two man-children.

Sad to see a good season end with such an underwhelming winner.

Yeah. I find Michele's drawl almost painful to listen to. It's sad because three out of the top four would've made perfect winners, so of course the most boring person there won.

As for next season, I hope the theme gets dropped quickly because I'm really not ready to watch the two generations constantly ****-talking one another.

I wanted Aubry to win! Michele bore me and was just there at the beginning of the season but I guess she didn't piss enough people.

Love the "vote a jury member out of the jury" twist and love the reaction from Neal.... lol.... he really said that comment!

I'm kinda sad that its all over now and LOL @ Jeff ignoring half of the cast again during the reunion, she also ignored Cydney though he talked to Cydney's mom. Nice to know that Sia is a Survivor stan!

The title for the next season is just sooo "WTH". I also don't like that they keep recycling locations. There's so many countries in Asia, South America... I would love them to go to Europe for once though thats probably too expensive for them.

Audrey was more deserving and I really thought she had it but I'm fine with Michelle winning as well. Her social game was great and she's not a slacker in the challenges as well. I would've been fine with any of the top 4 winning really.

The twist was glorious especially when it exposed what an ass Neal was.

The twist is awful for that very reason. As Rob Cesternino pointed out on his podcast, you want the ass on the jury! Think of how dull final tribal council was. There was no "rat and snake" moment. Taking Neal out deprived the audience of those fireworks.

Personally I wish instead of throwing somebody off the jury that they would have just had a final 2. I personally hate the final 3 and think going head to head is much better for entertainment value

Figures, the pretty people and the jocks go with the babe over the nerd, even though they themselves admit that said babe was carried for msot of the game and was out of the loop of most important decisions.

I didn't mind Michelle winning, it surprised me as I'd been certain that Aubry would win and that was a nice change of pace from past seasons.

The social game matters in Survivor, you've got to make sure that people like you enough to vote for you at the end.

Not looking forward to next seasons premise, I just know that the whole generation rivalry will become incredibly old and annoying quickly. Heck, I was already annoyed when watching the preview.

So apparently Debbie voted for Michelle and Nick voted for Aubry. I'm kinda surprised by that. I thought it would be reverse.

No, Nick is a fan of the show and the type to vote for who he thought played the best game. Debbie is more the type to hold a grudge.

I hated the results.

When i saw the winner my desire was turn off the TV.

Sorry, i know that much people like the winner, but, i mustn't say this.

Now, analysing the season, it was great. When the cast was announced, some fans spoke that they are weak. I stayed happy in the end, as a whole.

Jason and Scot were the villains of this season as expected. Some girls could be good but, they got out early. Anna, Jennifer, Liz and Debbie are very interesting and intelligent. I’d like to see more, who knows in the other season (I know, Debbie will return soon).

Alecia was very funny, a little crazy and with a potential to be the new Jtia (i love this crazy woman). Caleb in Survivor was better than the Big Brother, i like this guy and when he passed out, scared everyone.

Aubry was very intelligent, she knew management his game and saw the big moves don’t affected her. I liked and desire that she are going return soon and kick ass Sandra and Tony, how i’d like.

Cydney and Julia didn't play well but i understand that the personality of Cyd and Immaturity of Julia was the main motive.

Now: Joe, Darnell, Michelle, Neal and Nick ....zzzzzz... i don’t know if you use this term, but here, we know they as “plant”, because they don’t play and some are pushing during de season because they don’t represent danger. (I know, i know... one was subestimated).

And Tai... take your chicken and be happy, because you do not know play this game. lol

Survivor has been tried previously here in Australia, but it was a few years ago.

On Sunday night a New Survivor Australia starts again with 24 contestants and 55 day on Samoa.

The host here is actor Jonathan LaPaglia who some might remember as the main character in the U.S. science fiction drama Seven Days.

I am looking forward to this!

Hmm, Survivor without Jeff Probst... Just seems strange to me :)

Please let us know if the show is any good, more Survivor is always good.

The first episode was good - but it will take a bit of time to get use to no Jeff Probst!

They made the right decision in getting rid of lazy Des - the oldest person of the twenty-four players. He was trouble. I am wondering how 55 days compared to 39 will change Survivor?

Yeah, any Survivor is better than no Survivor!

Has anyone here seen the British made series The Island with Bear Grylls? Those contestants REALLY do have to live without being provided for and there have been some nasty injuries in the shows I have seen.

I watched the first two episodes of Australian survivor and I really liked them. It was interesting watching the survivor struggle to get their camp going. Modern American survivor has largely cut that part out.

At first I found Des amusing but his contrived personality rapidly became awful. Also, I could only understand about half of what he said. Glad he's gone.

Peter sticking around makes me anxious. I hate watching sick people suffer.

Nick is hilarious. Boasting about all the training he underwent to prepare himself for Survivor: hitting the gym, seeing a hypnotist...and yet he didn't bother learning a thing about outdoor survival skills. :funny: It was amusing how Jennah(?) admitted that everyone on her tribe had intended to lean on everyone else only to find none of them had any idea how to start a fire or build a shelter.

Hmm, Survivor without Jeff Probst... Just seems strange to me :)

Please let us know if the show is any good, more Survivor is always good.

I saw 29 US seasons, 4 seasons Brazilian and 2 French seasons of the Survivor and it is a point. Survivor without Jeff Probst is not the same thing.

Jeff is very inteligent, he know how to manage the TC and whenever the shows is becoming boring, he ask some questions that cause intrigue at the tribe.
Here in Brazil the show is over in 2009 because the edition is worst in the world. Besides, in the edition 4 (the last) the audience started to vote to eliminate the participant.

Since, we (the brazilians) adopted the US Survivor, yes, we are fanatics with this program.

Particulary, i like:
Season 6 - Amazon (and the crazy guy with the machete);
Season 7 - PI (Queen Sandra :ilv:);
Season 8 - All Stars (The first season with returnees);
Season 12 - Panama (I love Cirie and the crazy men Shane, i'd like to see him again);
Season 15 - China (This season is in my top 5, i love everything);
Season 16 - Micronesia (Pos merge is beautiful, i love Cirie (i know, i say this again) and Parvati)
Season 20 - HvsV (The best cast ever, i love everything, mainly the blindsides and Russell and Parvati and BRob and Sandra and Cirie... :ilv:)
Season 28 - Cagayen (With the second best tribe the show. I love you Jtia)
Season 31 - SC (with a lot of blindsides but, in the final, the game became boring).

My top 5 is: Pearl Island, Cagayen, Heros vc Villains, China and Micronesia.
And to you guys, what is the best season?

I'm really fond of Pearl Islands and most of the newer seasons since Philippines. The only new ones I haven't liked have been BVW1, Caramoan, and Cambodia. I think that's it.

ETA: I forgot to mention Australia. It was the first season I had ever seen and I still have a soft spot for it. I wonder if I would still like it if I watched it again.

Last night's episode (#5) was pretty amazing!

I am pretty sure that the American producers are taking notes . . . it seems that 55 days gives them a bit of room to try new things. The elimination segment was exciting to watch. So many twists and turns! And Jonathan La Paglia is looking great doing Jeff Probst's job. There were three episodes this week (two last week) and I cannot wait to see what happens when it returns next week.

And the reward challenge was something that I haven't seen before. Admittedly, I haven't seen every episode of American Survivor. Right now this is the most interesting show on network television here in Australia.

I have to be honest and admit that after season three all the seasons kind of blur together in my memory apart from what ever season is the newest :o

When they had the blood vs. water season with Aras and his brother, I could not for the live of me remember Aras from the show despite the fact that he won his season.

I'm happy to hear that, Gort. I'm really enjoying this season.

ETA: Okay, that was a great twist. It was neat how the two tribes got to see the other's dynamics first hand. I would love to see something similar incorporated into US Survivor, but the losers would probably have to leave the game rather than just switch tribes.
