Unfortunately, in most of the western world at least, the swastika is seen ONLY as a symbol of hate for most people. Many people do realize that it's original meaning is far from that but the majority will always connect the symbol to Hitler and WW2.
Though this is troublesome to me, what upsets me far more is how people react to the name "skinhead". It probably upsets me more because, unlike the swastika, I spent many of my younger years around skinhead culture and with many skinhead friends. Too many people though connect being a skinhead with being a racist, leading to defending yourself from violence far too much.
