T-Mobile and Sprint to merge

It's been on and off for a couple years but now it's a done deal. I guess if you use either one of them it matters more to you.

No, they have hit saturation point so they only have themselves to cannabilize to make a profit. Despite their never-kept promises of lower bills, expect your bills to increase because of this. Even if you aren't a Verizon or Sprint customer.

I used to have Alltel before it was gobbled up by Verizon (some areas by At+T).

Right now I use Boost Mobile. Funnily enough a lot of their phones utilize the Sprint Wireless network even though service provider is Boost.

I expect my T-Mobile service to get worse.
