What were his worst movies of 2011? the poster nite-owl posted up a link to this info yesterday in the lounge, but the page would not load in for me.
I am betting Conan the Barbarian is on that worst of list, but, man, i am surprised that QT liked Green Lantern.

edit: aye, i tried you rlink too, think it was the same one, didn't load in for me.

Nice to know that he liked Rise of the planet of the apes and X-Men so much, and nice to know that he likes the superhero movies genre.

What are the nice try awards?

I think he means the movie tried to hit some high water mark, but ultimately failed. Out of that 'nice try' list i have only seen Hannah, and I thought it was a pretty good sci-fi-ish spy chase-y thriller-y fish out of water type tale. I would have liked it to have been longer though.

I liked his list. But I suspect he wanted to like The Green Hornet movie a lot more.

The Three ****ing Musketeers

Our Idiot Brother

Seriously Tarantino?

Tarantino puts in the list the movies he found enjoyable or entertaining, that's probably why the three musketeers are there, and why he liked green lantern and other, Tarantino know that cinema is above all "Entertainment", that's why many of the movies in his list are considered by many as "bad", however he still puts in the top good movies like Midnight in paris

He probably actually has good reasons for his list, though.

I'm glad he put his list out there. Wish more directors and actors did that too.

^What Messiah said.

Drive and Hanna are a nice try, but Three Musketeers is among the best? Really? To each his/her own, I guess.

I know last year, when he released his top ten the site had so much traffic the servers crashed. So there was most likely a high amount of traffic. I just tried it, worked fine.

It would be awesome if we got top ten's from the likes of Martin Scorsese, Kevin Smith, Steven Spielberg, etc. Kinda like how Stephen King puts out his favorite tv shows, pretty cool.

I like that he put Drive Angry under 'Nice Try.' A lot of people ate that movie up, but I wouldn't have gotten any enjoyment out of it if it weren't for the mighty William Fichtner. What a great character in an otherwise forgettable flick that was trying way too hard.

I'm shocked a narrative dead-end like Green Lantern made his in-contention list.

His worst list:
Sucker Punch
Potiche (Trophy Wife)
Miral
Insidious
Rampart
Straw Dogs
Paranormal Activity 3
Meek’s Cutoff

I certainly thought Insidious was a better movie than Green ****ing Lantern.

He lost me with Three Musketeers. I thought that was a boring silly piece of crap.

Ugh, Tarantino. The only things I agree with is putting Rise of the Planet of the Apes in the top 3 and putting Drive outside the top 10.

QT continues to surprise me. I love the fact that he puts down what he likes and doesn't give a **** about making a typical top ten. I don't agree with some of his choices, but then again, isn't that the point of a top 10 list?

I remember reading that Tarantino once wrote a 20 page review, praising the crap out of Superman Returns.

He makes great movies, but his taste in them sucks.

Lol, Superman Returns is a good film, it's even far from a bad one, it was highly praisedwith some 76 % of positive reviews, not to mention that Empire even put it in their best 500 movies list, fans are the only ones b***g about it.

Still, Green Lanterns and other movies he liked are in his list, but people need to know how to diferentiate his favourite movies with the ones he thinks are the best ones, what's the problem if he likes bad movies? Most people like some bad movies at some point, many of them are extremelly enjoyable and entertaining.

Also, Tarantino and Rodriguez take a lot of inspiration from trash cinema, i even find strange that he didn't like Sucker Punch

Ok, so here is his list of the worst movies of 2011...

Sucker Punch
Patrice (Trophy wife)
Miral
Insidious
Rampart
Straw Dogs
Paranormal Activity 3
Meek's cutoff

I only saw SP out of that lot, and I liked it, but I did think it was his weakest movie out of the 4 I have seen(dotd, 300, WM).

Yes, I'm aware that many critics liked Superman Returns. Good for them. I'm also aware that there was enough fan backlash, overall disinterest from the GA and disappointing ticket sales for WB to decide to reboot Superman altogether. And regardless, even the critics who liked the movie weren't so batsh** crazy that they felt the need to write a 20+ page review of it (at least none that I've seen). Hell, I don't even think the people that HATED the movie felt a need to bash it for that many pages (well, okay, maybe a few).

Anyway... what irks me here is Tarantino's arrogance, referring to Drive as a "nice try." If I were to guess (and I have no way of knowing this for sure) he probably thinks of himself as the end-all, be-all of violent crime thriller directors and looks down his nose at someone like Refn whose style in certain scenes might be similar, but is not derivative. That probably wouldn't stop Tarantino from thinking that he is, however, which is ironic given that Tarantino himself was incredibly derivative early in his career.

One of these things is not like the others,
One of these things just doesn't belong,
Can you tell which thing is not like the others
By the time I finish my song?

:joker:

Kevin Smith

My thoughts exactly. :funny:

I clicked on this expecting to find Drive to be on his top list. Boy was I wrong.

his own movies can be hit or miss with some but you can't deny that Kevin Smith knows his sh** when it comes to film in general.

I think people undermine Kevin Smiths knowledge of films, I think it's cause he made Jersey Girl...
