Cool to see the IMAX theaters in the DC-metro area will be playing TDK again from January 23 through March! :word: I would love to try and see it again!

The Dark Knight is still showing at Imax here in Sydney, every day in the evenings. Which is really awesome, considering it hasn't stopped since July, and even then with the dvds.

Had a chance to watch it on the dvd yesterday with my best mate, and it was reliving the film, more so for me as I'm deaf and watching it with subtitles usually makes me understand the film a lot more. Still, it holds up extremely well over time. I consider it better than the original when I think about it, though also different to the original.

Inflation is used by Fans of other films who are pissed that TDK made more money than their favorite film
They still can't deny that TDK was a box office phenomenon. Going over old box office threads in World of KJ and Box Office Mojo is hilarious, seeing all of the gobsmacked comments and :wow:  :wow: smileys.

There's an 11:10pm show at the IMAX at Universal City Walk tomorrow night and it is sold out. Bummer cause i was supposed to go, but the person treating me to it (bday gift) didn't get the tickets when i told her to. So yea, i'm bummed now :csad:

Sold out?! Niiiiiice! :applaud I guess WB's choice in re-releasing it was a good one!

Well it isn't a one-time screening. It's my birthday tomorrow too, but I think I'll save my IMAX viewing for Sunday. Less traffic. :hehe:

yea i know, but i wanted to watch it in IMAX the day it hopefully gets its' Oscar noms, and exactly a year since Heath passed away. Guess i'll have to wait till the weekend.

Sigh, so after today....and no TV ads or anything, how long do you guys think this re-release will actually last?

I find it incredibly odd that WB isn't putting out TV spots, or even a trailer for that matter.

If they want that #1 of All Time spot, they need to market this to people who don't live on the internet.

Maybe till Oscars
Maybe. I'm not sure how much WB is paying these theaters to play TDK. Although there's nothing scheduled on IMAX until March for Watchmen, so maybe at least the IMAX theaters would appreciate the extra money coming in.

I just saw links and ads in my Fandango email. That's something.

I dunno, I'm just bummed for WB. They must be pretty pissed because of yesterday.

You can bet your ass that if TDK wasn't robbed at the Oscars for best picture and director we would have commercials right now saying something along the lines of..."The Dark Knight, nominated for 10 Academy Awards. Limited release on Imax."

That was short and well, lame but you get the idea.

8's not a bad number to advertise. Certainly more than The Reader (5). They just can't say "including Best Director and Best Picture." But that adds precious seconds anyway. :funny:

Yeah, but as most would agree Best Director and Picture are the two that would stand out. Most of the GA could probably care less for editing, cinematography and sound.

But you are right, they could still have right now ads at least saying "Nominated for 8 academy awards".

Even if they don't advertise it, I think it will hit the 1billion mark. Looking at Boxofficemojo last night it only has 3million to go.

I don't know. Personally, I think WB should boast The Dark Knight's Guild nominations.

Unfortunately, Joe Public doesn't know what guilds are. I'm having a hard time explaining to people on another forum that no, I don't care that you didn't think TDK was a good-enough movie, my problem is them not nominating it after they nominated it for guild awards!

Ugh, I can't get over the stupid guilds. WHY did they have to nominate it for guilds and then not the Oscars! Getting our hopes up and everything. At least it makes them look extra-foolish in the long run. :oldrazz:

I agree.

I don't see how they didn't have new ads/commercials ready for this release.

But then again, it technically got rereleased today. I think we're(or maybe just me) are jumping the gun.

There could be Oscar ads tonight or tomorrow, I'll have to keep an eye open on TV.

Anita, that may be true.

But really, do the general public really care all that much for the Golden Globes while we're at it?

Boasting a Best Picture/Best Director nomination, from any award ceremony, is good publicity as far as I'm concerned. It certainly wouldn't hurt.

any advertisement is good advertisement. just don't mention the (O)scars nods. that's my way of saying screw you academy. just say this:

Return to The Knight. The Best Picture.... Of The Year.

I checked out the paper today and I couldn't find any showings besides the IMAX theater. So, it's just on IMAX? They don't need the Oscars to show how good TDK is, people may want to see it again and people who saw it would bring people who haven't seen it.

I think it's safe to say they were counting on getting the big noms as part of the marketing for the re-release.. Beyond the predictable supporting actor, they didn't get them.

in perth (western australia), warners have started running print ads in the newspaper again, advertising the re-release.

i saw the ad during the week (before the noms were announced), so the ad carried more of a 'new to imax' vibe - the reason being is our hoyts imax just opened here a few weeks ago.

will get a scan if i can.

It's listed at Sydney and Melbourne IMAX sites but I doubt it went away as they usually show blockbusters for months. They just recently showed (last year before "The Dark Knight") "Batman Begins" for the first time because they never used to show popular films until (I think) "Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix". I was very disappointed I couldn't see "Superman Returns" nor "Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire" because of that lame policy. Maybe one day that might change.
