I agree.

I don't see how they didn't have new ads/commercials ready for this release.

But then again, it technically got rereleased today. I think we're(or maybe just me) are jumping the gun.
I saw the "Nearly 1 billion dollars WW" Blu-ray/DVD TV spot the night before the Oscar noms were announced. Maybe they will do something like that.

Anyone think that it could be possible for TDK to be ranked in the Top10, 20(?) at the box office this weekend?

How many films are there? If less than 20 then the answer would be yes. If more: it's doubtful. Doesn't worry me to be honest.

Shouldn't we have Box Office figures by now?

It didn't even make 200k this weekend. Looks like 1 billion could be painfully out of reach.

Looks like I may have been too generous giving this film a shot at $20 million with the re-release.

It's not going to beat Titanic. That is practically a certainty at this point.

I always gave the re-release a shot at $2-3 million. Not more than $5 million.

And no duh it was never going to beat Titanic. :funny: We'll have to see whether this can push it over $1 billion WW though. The final numbers haven't come in, so some people think it's already reached that milestone, some don't.

?

Why the hell did comingsoon report that it got 175K?
I saw it on Variety too, but someone on World of KJ said it must be wrong since someone who's in the biz observed that it got $300K on Friday and Saturday.

Box Office Mojo has actuals, TDK is #26 with $667,397 in 350 theaters. Dunno if there will be a huge drop next weekend.

It's already done a whole lot better than Gladiator's rerelease, which maxed out in its top weekend at $456,732 in 577 theaters. :funny:

It's coming to my local theater this coming Friday, so there might be a wider rollout this upcoming weekend.

I blame myself for the low numbers.
Three of my friends and I were supposed to see this in IMAX on Saturday, but the only one who had a car had to work. :csad:

Given the weekend figures and the no doubt yet to be reported internationals it'll surely reach 1 billion then?

Maybe. It's only $2.3 million away, no? The re-release might peter out at $2 million, but then that's less than half a million to go overseas.

And at that point, WB might just fudge the numbers anyway, since it's so close. Who are we to say they're wrong? :funny:

They should have some TV spots for the rerelease.
I think WB might be giving up on it. They're dropping 139 theaters this weekend, for a total of 211 theaters. Most of them are probably IMAX.

But hey, like I said, nothing on the IMAX schedule until Watchmen. Might as well use it for something, get a little money while you're at it. :yay:

Just a hair away from $532 million.

If anything hurt the movie's chances at $600 million it was the lack of best picture, best director nomination.

Even with those it wouldn't have got there. There's no way of proving it now, but another 70 million was just never going to happen.

most definitely not with the DVD being readily available (and already within the households of the people interested in it).

i would have thought the introduction of a new imax theatre in perth (where i'm from) would have meant increased interest in seeing the film for the first time in imax for heaps of people... but the session we went to (on the first day and anniversary of heath's passing no-less) had maybe 10 people in it? :S

Did it get much promotion in your area or was it just something that kinda slipped through the cracks?

For somebody who has seen this movie 7 times in theatres and twice at home, I can't bring myself to see it in the theatres anymore. I saw it 5 times in IMAX, I got my fill.

Last night we were deciding on a movie and I ALMOST wound up seeing The Dark Knight though with a friend who hadn't seen it.

Friend: But haven't you seen it already?
Me: Yeah I'm fine though.
Friend: How many times did you see it?
Me: ...a handful*

*Closer to two handfuls.

Box office mojo estimates TDK will not make the top 26 this weekend. I think its day is done.

I'm the opposite, actually. I've only seen it once in its entirety on DVD - after seeing it in IMAX (and feeling the sound through the floor and in your chest), I don't really want to see it any other way. :funny:

At least 40 people were at The Bridge yesterday. :yay: Way more than when it showed last in September, at least.

:lmao: Someone on Deadline Hollywood Daily says that their friend went to see Paul Blart: Mall Cop SEVEN TIMES, and it's only in its third week of release. :funny:

I guess we TDK fans aren't as crazy as we look. :hehe:
