Really would not bet on that. They had an opportunity to have the top-grossing domestic film of all times and passed it up so they could have a DVD by Christmas. These people don't give a **** about bragging rights.
Actually no,they didn't.
It had $530 at the beggining of December,a week before the dvd came out while making 187,000 that weekend.
It was the end of the run however you look at it...TDK had zero chance of beating Titanic even if the DVD came in March.
We're not talking about here about some indie movie like Juno that will suddenly increase because of popularity factors.
TDK was already seen by almost everyone who wanted to see it,it's not the second highest grossing movie by mistake...it already had tremendeous word of mouth,excellent reviews.
So the possiiblity that another 10 million people (an average of $7 ticket)would have watched the movie if the dvd didnt came out,is a fantasy made up by websites which job is to make sensational head-lines not following facts and history.
