The Dark Knight TDK too violent says British MP

this just shows that when theres agreat film out you will always get some prat having a go just to get there name in the press.

It totally depends though. This movie might actually influence 12 year olds, and if they just so appear to be obsessed over it, they might not be mature enough to limit themselves. This is a dark crime/action thriller movie after all, they might have expected a more friendlier superhero movie. I'm actually quite happy if they raise the age limit up a bit.

Anyway, at least 12 year old and above is something. In some countries, The Dark Knight was rated for Universal Viewers - meaning that kids as young as 6 Year olds were cowering in their seats when they watch the Joker push the knife on to the victim's cheeks. Heck, for younger viewers who actually enjoyed it, it possibly gives them some ideas of how extreme crime could be committed. Just a side thought.

It's got a G rating in Italy... Heck, even Sin City got a G rating here. Passion of the Christ was G. Wanted got a 14.

Uh-huh, there's something waaaay wrong with the Italian rating system. And then they down The Simpsons, Family Guy and South Park on TV. Yeah, right...

They were complaining about it over here in Ireland too, even though it got a 15s rating. Just a bunch of mother's on the radio saying how shocked by it they were and how it had frightened their poor little ones.

I think, again, it's the parents who are the problem.

The idea of certain ratings are that the parents check it out FIRST.

Unfortunately we appears to be in a system of lazy parenting, who would take a young child to a blatantly adult themed film without checking it out anyway?!

I will give a parent the benefit of the doubt that they would not suspect a "batman" movie of being that violent. However I swiftly take that away by not looking at posters, trailers and reviews. It is pretty clear in the advertising that this movie is NOT for kids.

The second time I saw DK the man behind us had his 3 little children about 5, 7 and 9 years old with him. When we came out they were cowering together like frightened little monkeys, the youngest one crying. He was completely oblivious.

At what point did he notice the little ones were scared and did nothing about it? I was absolutely disgusted and had he not been over 6' and me under 5' I probably would have said something.

I agree

that doesnt exactly scream "fun for the whole family"

Too... violent? It was not nearly as violent as I thought it would be, based on the first reviews.

I guess I don't have a heart, then. It would have to show much more for me to say it is too violent.

Nah I am with you, people reviewing it made it out to be an insanely violent movie. With that in mind I was expecting a whole lot more violent on screen deaths. However it still had a level of menace that did not dissapoint.
