This thread title is probably misleading, I'm talking to "grown-ups" who have friends that are teachers. They get all summer off, while I'm sitting here at work like a sucker. Just got a text from a friend saying to come over to his house for a bbq, still got 3 hours left at work though. Love hearing about all the baseball games they're able to attend, going to amusement parks and the beach all day:cmad: Anybody else annoying by teacher friends in the summer?

Hey man, I am studying to be a teacher!!!

Also, many work summer school.

There is still work to be done in classroom prep in the summer.

Plus, having the summer off will be nice once I am a teacher!

The "teachers" who teach people to use apostrophes correctly most assuredly do NOT suck. :p

Yeah! :cmad: My fiance's a teacher with the summer off...."*****". That's why I made her get a summer job, so I wouldn't have to hate her so much! :csad:

.....does that make you feel better?

Yeah, they may have all the off time, but that's time not making money. I'll take a 40 hour-per-week, year-round job as an electrical engineer over a low salary and summers off any day.

I going to study a Phd in Film and Fine Arts but I still think teachers suck. Not just teachers, but mainly teachers assitstants.

There's this one in my class at the momment that REALY hates me! She always ingonres and when everyone is talking about something and I decide to join, she's all like "Yo, Sami, stop talking and do your work!" which really pisses me off! 'Do my work'? How about a karate chop to the throat!

But she's mental and takes anti-depresssants because she has 'problems' with her boyfriend and hangs out with some of the kids in our class after school hours, which is CRAZY if you ask me.

The thread isn't about not liking the people who are teaching you, but being annoyed by friends who are teachers that are able to hang out all day during the summer while you're stuck at work.

Fair dues.

My teacher gave me a 79% on my essay that was clearly worth a 95%. I hate him

Depending on what you're teaching, it's not that low salary. Plus there's tenure, a union, benefits, and pension (if you stick around long enough).

And, if you're salary, you usually have the option of taking you pay over the nine months your teaching, or spread out over the year. The first option is nice if you work another job over the summer because you get bigger checks (an old biology teacher of mine was a ranger in Yosemite National Park during summers).

Yeah, all my teacher friends live a comfortable life, they aren't incredibly rich or anything, but they aren't hurting for cash either.

Is this BBQ to celebrate not getting shot at during the school year?

I hope this is teacher your referring to when you said 'Suck'......

When I was studying for my MSc, my friend was my teacher, which was odd.

Every PE teacher I ever had was fat.

Really? wow! For some reason I can't remember any of my P.E. teacher's names. I just know that I had a lesbian, some old fat dude, and some black guy.
