Teachers suck

hello, for those who don't know it yet, I am a teacher, have been a teacher for 12 years now and enjoy it, even when it's a very difficult career

and as much as you "hate" us for having summers off, here's some of the things we have to put up with:

-unmotivated students that don't want to learn, but still you have to manage to reach, motivate and try and make decent citizens out of them
-no child left behind, and other such government imposed beauties that hinder the student's ability to develop critical thinking skill in order for them to stress for tests that will not help them at all in real life
-changes in curricular and extra curricular activities taking place sometimes after you find out about them
-having to deal with mediocre fellow workers who degrade the craft you love
-having to deal with self centered egoistical idiots who lack the common sense to appreciate the hard work we have to do with the salary tend to get complaining about us getting the summer off (if a significant increase in my salary meant I had to work summers, I'd gladly do it)
-etc. etc. etc

I'm not saying I don't respect the work of teachers, I'm just saying sometimes the summers off thing can be annoying, like when they invite you to a bbq while you're still at work. However, there's a big thunderstorm that just rolled into town here, so all is good again:woot:

so as long as nobody else enjoys the free time that your job doesn't allow you to have it's all alright?

you have bigger problems than you think

I personally would hate to have 3 months off. I'd get bored pretty quickly.

Plas, you work during the summers? I don't if you said if you did or not?

I work summers, I can't be more than a week on vacation, or I go crazy

2 weeks is my limit really.

Knowing what teachers make in Miami, I really can't see how teachers can take summers off. I mean, they would have to do some major saving up to do so.

It reminds me of one summer I saw my assistant principal working at Macy's during the summer.

Teachers = babysitters for your kids for 8 hours a day.

I hope this is teacher your referring to when you said 'Suck'......

Homina, homina, homina.....

I remember some of my teachers had second jobs. My 8th grade History teacher, for example, worked in real estate.

This thread title is probably misleading, I'm talking to "grown-ups" who have friends that are teachers. They get all summer off, while I'm sitting here at work like a sucker. Just got a text from a friend saying to come over to his house for a bbq, still got 3 hours left at work though. Love hearing about all the baseball games they're able to attend, going to amusement parks and the beach all day:cmad: Anybody else annoying by teacher friends in the summer?

Wait a minute....your supposed to be working...not posting on the Hype! :oldrazz:

My teacher used to suck. In fact, I lost my virginity to my teacher.

didnt half make my bum sore.

If anyone else has made that gag already, i apologise. I just couldnt be bothered to read the other page. Or this page, actually.

you should, it's full of useful information

well, you see, i know that teachers dont have it easy, my cousin is one. (and, indeed, so is one of my ex's).
I know its exhausting (we didnt play "Mr Wobbly hides His Helmet" anywhere near as often as I would have liked, cos she were so tired)

I know that a large chunk of the alleged summer holiday is used on lesson plans and planning the schedule for the following school year. I know that half terms are often used for marking. I know that half the clubs and activitities that so many parents take for granted as free babysitting services are actually done by the teachers on a voluntary basis. i know its low paid work cos its a vocation, not a job.

i dont think they suck at all, as it happens :D
