Animation Terminator Anime Series In The Works With The Batman Writer Mattson Tomlin

Man, i am really looking forward to this series. My local cinema is re releasing Terminator for its 40th anniversary the day after release, so i will watch before bingeing this. Im ready for Terminators to be scary again. Im hoping the storyline isn't to complicated but tight like T1 was. Im expecting some eerie atmosphere as Anime usually does a great job of this but as a music man im hoping the soundtrack delivers aswell. I still cherish Brad Fiedel's work immensely on T1 and T2.

I still think the early meme of this pic, planted the seeds for this to happen.

Wow that insight from Mattson Tomlin is everything, The dude understands the impact of Terminator and the relevance of A.I in the present. Sounds like he has a good team around him to utilize his vision. The 6min scene has ticked a few boxes already.

I would have prefered a western style of animation but anime will do.

Just watched the first episode, so far, so good.

I watched the first 2 episodes... I'm not really liking it. I have to stop myself from messing with my phone during the episodes. Which I didn't expect because I was really looking forward to this show. The characters seem kind of bland, and I don't know, something is missing... but I'll keep watching. Maybe I'll end up loving it in the end.

Up to episode 4. Its the best one so far in terms of terminator action and plot, i had a feeling we would get a few scenes with kids interacting with Terminators (A personal nightmare ive had). Ive clocked there are alot of love letters to Cameron's series aswell. One thing thats been abit of a surprise is Malcom's scenes with the A.I. Thought provoking stuff and deeper than i was expecting. So far its been great watch.

Eiko has been abit of a disappointment, hopefully she gets more development in the remaining episodes because currently she's too one note.

P.S Its great to see the brutality of a Terminator again.

I also caught up to the first four episodes and I'm really enjoying it and I love how they took the old-school anime approach to this, this feels like it would have come out in the 90s.

Made it up to episode 5 so far, this show is probably the best thing since the first two films. Love how the vibe is much closer to the first in terms of tone.

Animation, score, sound design are pretty good! Voice cast is pretty good too, but Olyphant has very little dialogue so far, aside from a few lines in the third episode.

After finishing off the series, this is a 8.5/10 for me. I loved what they did with the Terminator lore in this series. The characters (Particularly Kenta and Malcom Lee) had proper development and heart its something i wasn't fully expecting before earlier episodes. Malcom Lee is effectively John Connor and Miles Dyson in one. The conflict and passion he has for Kokoro and Misaki is displayed well but truly a burden at times. Timothy Olyphant had little to work with as the terminator but i feel his voice worked. I didn't think they would go there but in Episode 8 as a full endoskeleton they still showed him speaking and its something ive always thought about in the terminator films, Great stuff.

Speaking of Episode 7-8, There is alot to unpack so be prepared lol Ive had to do some outside diggin in terms of timelines to flesh things out.

The key thing for me is Judgement Day is an inevitability. It can only be delayed but not entirely stopped. As long as curious human minds want to explore and tinker with AI, the danger of skynet will present itself again and again. Just under a different name. All humanity can do is resist and try to keep the key figures and as many people as they can alive.

There's alot of things fans should love here and certain things that are slightly controversial. All in all im really glad this was made and to me is possibly the best redemption of the Terminator franchise. This was clearly a project that was on the mind of Mattson Tomlin for sometime. The fact this guy is working on Batman Part 2 and has alot of respect for Matt Reeves has me intrigued and excited of the possible outcome.

P.S i saw the Terminator re release in cinemas, it was packed. I was abit perplexed Cameron said "When i look back at it ,some of it was cringe " Like really bruh :meh: lol anyway, that Terminator intro was so good to hear in dolby atmos

Not counting the first two movies or Dark Fate this is definitely the most I've enjoyed anything from this franchise other than The Sarah Connor Chronicles which I finally binged last year.

Loved the gritty 90's esque anime style and The Terminators were more brutal and scarier than they have ever been before IMO including the earlier movies and I really want to see more of that.

A season 2 has so much potential and hopefully it gets renewed.

The music throughout this show was top tier too.
